The day of Lirioth's rising couldn't have been more different than her last. The skies were clear and dazzlingly blue, and the midday sun baked the Weyr, radiating from the sands and heating the cliffs where dragons sprawled on their stone ledges. Heat shimmered from the little green's hide, her glow attracting intrigued glances from the nearest males. A faint sea-breeze swirled in, bringing with it the cool scent of the ocean and a suggestion of soaring and diving among the air-currents far above, and her eyes flicked open, burning crimson. Lirioth was ready to fly.

}:Come and chase me, if you think you are worthy!:{ She screamed out her challenge and descended on the feeding grounds, her claws tearing into a terrified beast.

Loseth had been watching and waiting for this moment. He flew to take a high perch above the feeding pens, his roar echoing off the volcanic rock of the Weyr. }:Mine!:{

}:Beautiful Lirioth, I will show you how well I can fly!:{ Eboroth was far outsized by the Weyrleader's bronze, but the little blue wasn't intimidated. His good eye whirled red with lustful intent as his gaze fixed on the glowing green.

Lirioth shivered with anticipation as she tasted blood and sensed the many eyes watching her from the ground and the cliffs, how she was the focus of their desire. The roar of the bronze resonated within her, stirring a memory - hers, or her rider's, it was all one - of being gripped firmly in his claws, their heated bodies entwined in flight. But if he wanted to claim her again, he'd have to be fast! She flung her prey aside and leapt into the air, arrow-fast, up and up above the cliffs and out over the sea. She soared and dived, skimming over the glittering waves, then climbing again towards the burning sun, almost vanishing in the glare.

Eboroth was in hot pursuit, staying close behind the green as she darted through the sky. }:Let's show these bigger dragons how it's done!:{

Sunlight glinted off Loseth's coppery hide as he did his best to keep up with the smaller, faster dragons. He sent Lirioth his desire, his need, the memory of their pleasure as they mated.

They'd left the land far behind when Lirioth began to weave and twist in the air, exchanging pure speed for agility and the chance to provoke the chasing males. She swung close to one, then another, slipping out of each one's grasp with a taunting cry, reveling in their frustration. }:Too slow!:{ A few of the larger and less experienced dragons fell behind, but she was pleased to see some of her favored suitors on her tail, and behind them the steady, untiring presence of Loseth. Her tail flicked enticingly as she sped forward into another climb, knowing she still had strength left for a few more tricks to elude the unworthy.

Lust burned in Loseth as he carved through the sky after the teasing green. Each time a male reached for her he growled possessively, but she eluded them. Too early. He had more than enough energy to outlast Lirioth, he only had to be there when she made her choice. Or when she made a mistake.

}:You are too clever for them.:{ Eboroth had little trouble matching her acrobatics, even when she moved to his blind side. He'd learned to compensate, turning his head and shifting his body until she was in sight again. }:Choose me, Lirioth. We will fly so well together.:{

}:Not yet!:{ There was still delight in darting here and there among the pack, shrilling a mocking cry as she slipped from a brown's clumsy lunge. }:And not you.:{ But as she twisted and turned, she felt the climax of the chase approaching, her desire growing for the one who would prove himself worthy. She remembered, again, the powerful grasp of Loseth, and how he'd responded to her tricks. Perhaps there was time to tease him again, and spur him on to a passionate catch?

She saw her opening and slowed, feigning exhaustion as she drifted temptingly close to the bronze...unaware of the keen gaze of another of the chasers.

Loseth surged forward, though he didn't reach for her. Not yet. He sensed there was still energy in her, and she wasn't quite close enough, but if she slowed just a bit more, if she turned slightly . . . The bronze's passions heated even more, because she _was_ nearly ready to be caught and he could practically feel her body clutched tightly to his.

Eboroth saw what she was doing, teasing the bronze, ready to dart away from before he could get his claws on her. The blue kept pace with Lirioth, muscles coiled tight in anticipation. This time the wily green would be _his_!

Just out of reach, Lirioth flirted and fluttered, weaving seductively, hoping to lure the bronze into lunging for her, but he seemed to have guessed what she was up to. Perhaps she could inflame his desire by playing with the rest of the chasers? She beat her wings and sped away forward, planning to curve around the rest of the pack...but out of nowhere, a smaller dragon arrowed in from the side and caught hold of her in a firm grasp before she could react. Lirioth cried out in surprise, and then, as his body twined with hers, in passion.

Loseth roared in fury as another male claimed his prize. Lirioth should be _his_! Wheeling, he plunged toward the ocean to help cool his thwarted desire.

}:You do not need a bronze to satisfy you,:{ Eboroth said as he began to fall with Lirioth. }:I will show you.:{

The other chasers, bronze and all, were forgotten as Lirioth surrendered to her desire, as the powerful mating urge flowed out through her bond and swept I'lek into the strong embrace of Tr'vel. The young greenrider gasped, his senses still partly in the skies where Lirioth twined with her mate, and he echoed her words in a seductive murmur. }:Clever blue.:{
