Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr

The greenrider had tried to keep herself busy. She made sure Farsith's hide was well oiled. Worked on training Fickle, studied for her senior apprentice knots. Did her turns in the infirmary. There where wing drills to attend, and meals with friends. The problem was, every time she returned to her weyr, she think of him. The look on his face when what she'd said became clear. Farsith didn't understand. She couldn't see how someone who made her rider happy, could make her sad.
All Figol could do was think about Aletta too. At first he had tried to push her out of his mind, unable to accept the facts of her flight.
Fickle too, for when the firelizard had come to him looking for food, Figol had refused her perch and swatted her away. He had spent most of his time since that day in the apprentice barracks except when attending class or doing assigned chores. Now though, his thoughts were almost always on her. He missed her; missed her smile, walking along the beach with her, he even missed arguing with her. He missed Fickle, that lazy fat-face, too. He had even started to once again keep a piece of meatroll or jerky wrapped in his pocket; just in case.
Fickle swooped ahead of her human, looking for something to dive at.
She wanted to make her friend smile. Farsith had asked to go swimming and the green firelizard had decided to come with them. She noticed a familiar figure not far away and flew toward him chittering.
"Hey! Watch it!" Figol cried as he felt the claws of a firelizard clip the top of his head. "You should really train that thing..." he added as he turned to face his attacker.
Aletta's jaw drooped, of all people Fickle would dive at, it had to be _him_. "I'm trying you know, she's still young."
His stomached flopped as he saw her and all he could say was "Oh, well..." He had been thinking of her almost nonstop all these sevendays, about how he wished he could talk to her. Now, all he wanted to do was run away, he was so completely unprepared for this meeting, but his feet wouldn't move.
And since his feet wouldn't move for a swift retreat, he realized an uncomfortable silence was starting to fall. Hastily he added to cover the silence, "She's really grown... Fickle."
"That she has. She'll be three months soon." The half grown firelizard in question circled, chirping at the harper.
Figol grabbed for the jerky in his pocket, feeling it safe to keep the conversation on the firelizard. "Do you want some, Fickle?" he asked as he offered up the snack.
Fickle chirped happily, the singer was being nice to her. She landed next to him and took the offered treat.
"Your going to make her even fatter." Aletta's tome was amused.
It felt so good to talk to her again, he eagerly kept up the firelizard talk, "Well... Fat-Face doesn't seem to mind."
"Of course she doesn't. It hasn't occurred to her that flying will be unappealing if she gets much fatter."
The ease of their banter was appealing, "It all comes back to a training issue, now doesn't it." He offered his last piece of jerky to Fickle, as much a taunt to Aletta, as for just the enjoyment of having the firelizard perch on his shoulder as she ate.
"I'd like to see you do as well. at least she listens to Farsith, sometimes." Aletta knew she walked on thin ice, reminding him that it was Farsith that was the issue, but she couldn't help herself.
"Ahh, but I don't have to do as well, she's not my responsibility to train. All I have to do is stuff her full of scraps." If his tone was slightly diminished it wasn't by much. He knew Farsith was always going to be a barrier between them, the dragons wants and needs were always going to come before his for Aletta. He didn't know if he could accept that, if he even _wanted_ to accept that; but right now all he knew was that he missed her, and he never wanted her to leave.
"I'll have to change that won't I?" she smirked. She hoped she could find the firelizard egg in time for his birthingday. It might make things a little easier.
He threw up in hands in mock defense, "Whoa, you can't make me take that fat thing from you, she _eats_ too much!"
"She eats what you feed her." Aletta grinned. "Besides I couldn't even if I wanted too, impression is final. Even with these guys."
It was _so_ good to see that big smile of hers Figol had no choice but to grin right back. "Maybe, but it all comes back to... Training!" he sang at her, the happiest he'd been in sevendays.
