**Ok, now I told you that after I wash you if you flop back on the sand like that you'd just get covered in it,** R'mer said, amused that his bronze dragon now looked half brown with all the wet sand stuck to his body.
}:But the sand is so warm today,:{ Hanunth protested.
**Yes, but you can't go back to the weyrling barracks covered in sand.
You're going to have to wash it off before we go back.**
}:You mean I can swim?:{ the bronze asked, his eyes beginning to whirl with excitement.
**You just got out of the water,** R'mer chuckled, shaking his head in amusement.
}:Yes, but you were washing me. I didn't get a chance to swim yet,:{ his lifemate whined.
"Oh all right. Come on then," the weyrling said aloud. He rested his hand against the bronze's sandy neck as they walked towards the water together.
Eleada smiled to herself, remembering her own weyrling days with Gliorith as she watched the young man. He wasn't half bad looking, she decided appraisingly. The smile turned wicked. With a bronze that size he was certainly not allowed any romances, but...
"Isn't he a handsome fellow." She said appreciatively, falling into step with the pair. "Almost as good looking as his rider, I'd say."
"I'm sorry?" R'mer asked, not sure he had heard her correctly.
Eleada had to smother her smile a bit. Almost definitely holdborn.
This would be fun. "You must be something special to get a nice looking bronze like him. Although he does look like a brown with all that sand."
"Oh, um..." R'mer could feel a bit of a blush creeping up his neck. "Not really. I mean, yes, he does look a bit brown." Shards.
Shards, but he was cute confused! "Why don't you let him rinse off, and we can talk?" She suggested, gesturing toward the water.
}:I don't want to just rinse. I want to swim!:{ the bronze said excitedly.
**All right...** R'mer turned a tentative smile towards the obviously older woman who smiled so... flirtatiously. "He says he wants to swim... So, talking would be fine."
"I'm Eleada." She offered. "And you handsome creatures are...?"
"I'm R'mer," he replied trying to sound a bit more comfortable than he felt. "And my lifemate is Hanunth." Despite the fact the he had rather enjoyed some of the perks of the Weyr, women openly flirting with him in public was still a bit... embarrassing. Though not _half_ as embarrassing as when _men_ tried to flirt with him. That was just unnatural.
"R'mer and Hanunth." She said, raising an eyebrow. He was still unnerved, but doing a better job of hiding it. Good. "I like it. My beauty is Gliorith, over there." She gestured toward her green, who was basking in the sun a fair distance away. "Are you enjoying the weyr, R'mer?" She stepped a little closer to him, watching his reaction carefully.
"Well, it's different..." He tried to ignore the fact that she was suddenly closer to him than was probably necessary. R'mer was sure she could tell by the knots he wore, if not the dragon he was bound to, that he was not available at the moment. He reminded himself he was perfectly safe... At least, he _thought_ he was...
"Different...?" She queried, leaning slightly closer. He'd handled the step well enough. Time for a little more... Just a little, of course.
She didn't want to traumatize Hanunth. But it was so fun to tease...
R'mer leaned slightly away. "Uh... Yes. From the farm." Shards, did she have to stand so _close_?
Hah. She'd caught him there. Hmmm. "Really? I had a lover once who was farmbred. He used to do the most wonderful massages..." She smiled dreamily, and decided not to lean any closer. Instead, she let her gaze travel downward to rest on his hands.
"I, uh... I doubt I'm very good at that sort of thing."
"With some practice I'm sure you'd be wonderful. Strong hands from all that farm work. A strong body..." She trailed off suggestively, shifting her gaze from his hands to something a little more... personal.
He folded his hands in front of himself, unconsciously protected his person from her wondering gaze. "Ma'am I'm... I'm a weyrling... And you know I... Well, that is to say the rules say..."
She laughed, relaxing her posture to a more casual stance and taking a step back. "It's all right, R'mer. I have no intention of doing anything with you. Honestly, you're probably safer with me than most. I don't generally take lovers without a flight. I just like to tease."
"Oh. I see." R'mer wasn't sure if he liked her way of teasing. And he wasn't sure if he really was all that safe either. This was a totally new way of playing that he just didn't quite get the rules to.
She could tell he wasn't convinced. "Don't get upset, R'mer." She said easily. "You did very well for a farmer, or a holder for that matter.
It takes time to get used to the weyr's way of doing things. For that matter, it doesn't always come easy to the weyrbred either."
"I suppose so," R'mer shrugged, now totally embarrassed that she had pointed out his obvious difficulty fitting in. "A bit of advice though? Stop worrying so much. Unless they're drunk, no one will see those knots and be serious. Even once you're a full rider, the only ones you'll need to watch are the females. The male riders will tease you because you're a bronzerider, but not expect anything. So just enjoy it -or use it as practice for the ladies. My brothers did." She said kindly.
The weyrling gave her a shy smile. "That's good to know. I'll try to remember that."
He really was cute when he smiled, she noted as she smiled back. But she didn't think telling him that would go over well now that she had confessed. "Good. Just keep that in mind, and you should be fine.
How's Hanunth doing? He looks like he's enjoying himself."
"Yes, I think he's always having fun," R'mer replied, his smile growing softer as his thoughts turned to his lifemate. "He's a rather playful fellow. And he thinks he can do anything."
"They all do at that age." She agreed, looking fondly over at her own green, who was now flirting with several blues. "But some more than others. Why don't you join him? Or do you need to get back to the barracks?"
}:Come swim!:{ Hanunth pipped in.
"It seems Hanunth wants me to swim," R'mer shrugged.
She gave him a hearty slap on the back. "You do that then. I need to see to Gliorith. I promised her a good oiling."
R'mer gave her a half smile and a nod. "Thanks. It was... nice to meet you."
She grinned. She doubted that, but it was nice that he was polite about it. "It was nice to meet you too, R'mer. Have fun."
