Getting Back to Work

Writers: Bree, Roxanne
Date Posted: 1st August 2006

Characters: Y'sani, C'lor
Description: Y'sani and C'lor discuss the younger bronzerider's return to assisting with the Weyrling wing.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 2 of Turn 3

C'lor was feeling rather down. It had been five months since he had been injured. He was walking again and had recently regained all but a fraction of his sight. His entire body was a mass of scars that had to look absolutely horrid, but he hadn't asked anyone what the ones he couldn't see looked like. He was still not sure if he would ever be fit for a fighting wing, let alone working with the weyrlings. That was what he wanted to talk to Weyrlingmaster Y'sani about now that he was cleared to return to light duty by the infirmary.

He knocked on the door and waited for an answer. He knew that the Weyrlingmaster was expecting him, but he still was nervous about what the results of the meeting might be.

Y'sani opened the door for him, giving the young rider an encouraging smile as he waved him inside. "C'lor, isn't it? How are you feeling this morning?"

"Yes. Sore, but they say it will be like that for some time. I wanted to talk about what I can do in regards to the weyrlings with my limited abilities." he replied making his way slowly into the office.

"You feel ready to start getting involved again?" Y'sani asked as he took a seat.

"I do." he replied sincerely. He needed something, anything to take his mind off the slow recovery.

Pulling the file towards him, Y'sani opened it up to see what the healers had said. "Now I'm perfectly happy to find something for you to do, but I'm not going to let you go outside the healer's instructions."

"I understand. I just need something to do in between working with the healers and caring for Hayreith." C'lor replied honestly. The latest exercises had been short flights with Hayreith. He felt like a weyrling again as he wasn't allowed to go on long flights until he could stay astride Hayreith for longer than a few moments.

"How would you feel about supervising ground drills?" Y'sani asked after a moment studying the healer's orders. "The younger weyrlings still need some help with them."

"I can do that, sir." he replied knowing it was within his range of abilities however limited they might be at the moment.

"Excellent. And if anything gets too hard or you start to feel the slightest strain, I want to know. And Hayreith will tell Luthinath if something's wrong, so don't think you can hide it." He gave the young boy a stern look.
"Am I understood?"

"Yes, sir." he replied knowing that his dragon would do just that and seemed to enjoy it as often as he informed others of his rider's condition.

"Then you'll start tomorrow." And Y'sani had more than enough work to share a little around. "And if you have any questions, just have Hayreith bespeak Luthinath."

"I will, Thank you Weyrlingmaster." C'lor said before turning to leave.
