Jynrek felt uncomfortable sitting behind Abrei's desk, but he told himself he'd have to get used to it. Gesturing for M'galec to sit down, he shifted some of Abrei's papers to the side. "Have you checked on Abrei? How is she?"

"She seems to be... her usual self." Which wasn't necessarily a good thing, considering she was supposed to be relaxing.

"It will be a hard adjustment for her." Jynrek sighed and leaned back.
"She'll be on leave for a month or two, resting. But I need to find something for her to do outside of the infirmary. At least until she learns how to handle stress."

"This is Abrei. What really are the chances of that?" M'galec sighed as he sank into the chair across from Jynrek.

"I like to think we _all_ have the capacity to learn, journeyman,"
Jynrek replied mildly. "But in this case, I do agree that it's more of a long term goal. She'll need something to focus her energy on that is less stressful."

"She is not going to like it," the bronzerider sighed. "It will have to be something related to the medical field. But something low stress. Teaching is definitely out."

Jynrek imagined Abrei in a room full of wide-eyed apprentices, and had to work to hide a wince. "No, I don't think that would work at all."

"No. Diagnosis perhaps?" M'galec suggested.

"I think she needs to be out of the infirmary all together," Jynrek replied. "Perhaps I could convince her to pick up a new branch of study, or maybe teach classes to some of the older journeymen." **The ones she can't terrorize,** he added silently to himself.

"Like massage? Or herbalist?"

"Herbs..." Jynrek tilted his head to the side, trying to chase down a thought. "Herbs... Iyoen. Have you ever meet Iyoen?"

"Is he an herbalist?" M'galec asked, searching his brain for a face to match the name.

"He's a Master Farmer... the one who works with the medicinal herbs. I _think_ he used to have a journeyman working with him, but he transfered away from the Weyr a month or two ago." Jynrek rubbed at his chin as he considered the problem. "It's a possibility, at least. I don't know how happy he'd be if he had to spend part of his time looking after an angry healer, though."

"Well, working with plants is supposed to be soothing," the bronzerider conceded. "But he is not even a Healer? I am not sure Abrei would like that. She would want someone she could at least talk to on an intellectual level."

One of Jynrek's eyebrows swept upwards. "That's not an acceptable attitude, journeyman M'galec, and I do not want to hear such disrespect for a Master Crafter leave your lips again while you are within the four walls of this infirmary. Abrei may have tolerated or encouraged insolence and arrogance, but I most certainly will not."

"Well, you sir obviously do not know Master Abrei. She will not be happy being assigned a Master Farmer," M'galec replied unphased. "She will want someone with whom she can argue the finer points of human anatomy and medicine, not plant life. I am sure Master Iyoen is very knowledgeable in his field, but just what kind of intellectual compatibility will he have for Master Abrei? _That_ is the point I am making."

"I have known Master Abrei for longer than you have," Jynrek replied mildly. "I will, of course, take your suggestion under advisement.
But I would ask you to remember that arguing the finer points of human anatomy and medicine has not been good for her thus far. A break from that might be exactly what she needs." "Perhaps, but she will not like it." M'galec sighed. "But I suppose working with herbs is safer than people at this moment."

"For everyone involved," Jynrek agreed. "I intend to oversee her case and her recovery, but for the time being my main goal is to make sure she is as relaxed and calm as possible, under the circumstances."

"Of course, I would be happy to help as much as possible," the bronzerider quickly offered.

Jynrek nodded. "Excellent. Have an apprentice keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't sneak out of the infirmary. I want her resting here until she can keep down food."

M'galec nodded. "Yes, sir."

"Good." Sitting back in his seat, Jynrek sighed. "I suppose I should go talk to her. I'm sure your weyrmate was expecting you home some time ago, M'galec. Thank you for helping out, though."

"You... do not need me for anything else?" It was almost _early_ by M'galec's standards. Not that he was complaining really...

Jynrek shook his head. "You've spent enough late nights here. You deserve an evening to yourself. I'm sure everything will be fine."

"All right. Thank you," the bronzerider said, forcing a smile as he stood to his feet. Being sent home early? He hoped it wasn't a sign that he was... not needed...
