Going For A Swim 1/2

Writers: Cali, Emma
Date Posted: 12th November 2006

Characters: Mosler, Thanja
Description: Mosler and Thanja go swimming with the dolphins.
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 1, day 9 of Turn 4

Mosler stared out at the breakers as the large waves crashed and then slowly made their way towards shore. Thanja had finally taken up his offer for a swim with the dolphins and he was more than looking forward to it. He saw her round the corner that lead to the Hall and started off to meet her halfway.

"Master Mosler," she said by way of greeting as she saw him. The Hallsecond had a carisak in her hand containing swimming clothes and a towel. "I hope the dolphins are ready to put up with a novice swimmer."

"Their favorite kind." Mosler assured her as he took her carisak for her, "That way they get to show off for you. I'm so glad you could come today, I was beginning to think you'd never take me up on my offer."

"How could I refuse?" she replied. Perhaps it had taken some time to arrange, what with Tanrin having broken his arm. "I'm only sorry it took this long."

He escorted her to a stall by the dock so that she could change, he was already wearing the shorts he would be swimming in. "Go ahead and change in here, Calla and Kory are waiting at the float dock when you're ready."

It only took her a few minutes to change into what was rather modest bathing attire, compared to some that she had seen at the weyr. Well amongst those who bothered with that any way. Some of the dragonriders thought nothing of swimming nude. "I'm ready," she said as she came out.

Mosler let a small smile escape his lips and he turned towards the dock so the Thanja wouldn't see. She was _a bit_ overdressed, but the dolphins wouldn't care, and if it made her feel more comfortable, then she could wear whatever she pleased. "You are a decent swimmer correct?
I've floats available if you're nervous, but the dolphins won't swamp you... and if they do, they'll save you." he said with a tease.

"I haven't swum properly in turns. Most of the time it was too cold in the north."

He walked over to the covered box at the dock entrance and grabbed a float. "Just in case, but I'm sure you won't need it."

"I hope not," she said with a smile. "So do we just get ion with them, or do I need to meet them first?"

He escorted her to the ladder on the dock that lead to the training platform and started to climb down. "You've met them before, at the Harper performance, but we can get reacquainted before we jump in."

She followed him down, hanging onto the ladder as she got her balance.
"Are you going to do the honors?"

Mosler gave the 'come in' sequence on the bell attached to the platform. He didn't need to, the dolphins had seen them coming and were already halfway there, but they liked any opportunity to hear the bell ring. "Calla, Kory, do you remember Master Thanja?"

"Harper Anja!" squeed Kory, "Memberrs mussic!"

"That's right," said the Printer as she held out a hand to the dolphin.
"I came back to swim with you."

While Kory squeed in excitement at the suggestion, Calla rose out of the water and splashed him as if in rebuke, "Not Harper, Inter Anja!
Ook Anja!"

Calla's partner chuckled, "You are right my dear, Thanja is a printer and she does make books."

"They remembered a lot more than I thought they would." Thanja thought she wouldn't be the first or last to be surprised by that fact.

"They have excellent memories... when they want to." Mosler gave her a wink and then dove into the water. He came up at the platforms edge and offered his hand to the Hallsecond. "Want some help?"
