Going For A Swim 2/2

Writers: Cali, Emma
Date Posted: 12th November 2006

Characters: Mosler, Thanja
Description: Mosler and Thanja go swimming with the dolphins.
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 1, day 9 of Turn 4

"I think I can manage," she said as she slipped into the water a lot less gracefully than he had done.

Kory was at her side almost immediately, offering his fin for her to grab.

"Not yet Kory," Mosler said as he grabbed her float from the platform and handed it to her. "Let her get used to swimming first. Thanja can go for a ride later if she's up to it."

"I haven't been in the water for a long time," she told the dolphin.
"You'll have to be kind to me."

Calla butted Kory gently away from the woman with her nose and then lesurely circled Mosler. She was hoping he'd get out her favorite ball, but she wouldn't ask... as a leader her pod she shouldn't have to.

"You'll have to forgive Kory," Mosler said with a chuckle, "he's Calla's youngest, and he gets excited when non-dolphineers come to swim with him."

"How old are you Kory?" aske Thanja curiously.

Kory, excited to be addressed, pulled himself upright. "Two turns, big dolphin!" he squeed proudly.

"You are a big dolphin now," she said as she slowly trod water hanging onto the float.

The young dolphin spun around in the water at the compliment, "I carrefull! You ride!"

This time Calla gave her son a hard butt in the side for his impudence and he dove down in embarrassment.

Thanja laughed, "Just like my sons would be," she said to Mosler. "You have a lad of your own, don't you?"

Mosler was startled by the question but nodded his head. "Yes, my only child, Orlan."

"Has he followed you into the craft?"

"He did..." Mosler sighed, he didn't know if he really wanted to be having this conversation, but... "He left to stand at the last hatching."

"Ahh," that was a feeling she knew well. But before she could continue the conversation, more dolphins appeared. "This must be more of the pod?"

Mosler chuckled, relieved at the distraction, "News travels fast around here!"

"How many are there altogether?"

He scanned around then, hoping that not too many of them came to see Thanja. They started to show off in larger groups and he didn't want to overwhelm her. "It looks like we've got five now."

"Perhaps we should let them take us out a little way?" she suggested.

Calla, who had been lazily floating next to her partner Mosler, gave a sharp whistle command, and Kory popped up next to Thanja. "Rrride now?
Kory ready. Kory big big."

"Looks like you've got a willing partner, now if mine would oblige me..." He gave the hand signal and Calla came to his side and offered him her fin.

She took the fin, "Like this Kory? I'm not hurting you?"

Mosler looked over as he got a hold of Calla's fin and gave her a pat, "A little lower, right at the base. And you can't hurt him, he can pull a couple hundred pounds pretty easily, so you're no problem."

Thanja moved her grip to where Mosler had reccomended. "I'm ready when he is."
