Fielton

Fielton

Miryene was waiting for Diagoro and Fielton in Cinale's small sitting room.
She was wrapped in a blanket and had endured a visit from the healer already, and looked tired and weary.

Fielton took a seat without saying anything, leaving Daigoro to start the conversation. It was wildly out of character to allow anyone else to take the lead in this sort of thing, but Fielton was still dealing with an uncomfortable level of guilt, and was willing to sit back and let Daigoro talk to Miryene if it would make things easier on her.

"Miryene," the Hallsecond said gently as he sat in the chair closest to her, "we need to know what you would like to do, now that Jhonnel's treatment has come to light."

"I would like for Jhonnel to get help," she replied without hesitation.
"He's sick, and he's destroying his health and himself. Something needs to be done before it's too late."

"I think it was your health and the health of his children that was most in danger," Daigoro said evenly. "But what is it that _you_ would like to do?
Do you... want to go back to him?"

"Not right now," she replied after a furtive glance at Fielton, who nodded shortly. "I'm not a fool, though... some people seem to think I am. But he's my husband, and I care about him. And I can't walk away from him without at least _trying_ to help him."

Fielton leaned forward. "It's admirable, Miryene... but you can understand that no one feels very comfortable with you being around him. Your old rooms are still empty. I'll have someone set them up for you tomorrow, and you can stay at the Hall while we decide how to... deal with your husband." Miryene didn't look particuarly comforted and glanced back to Daigoro. "What are you going to do to him?"

Daigoro put an arm around Miryene gently. "What he has done is very serious, Miryene. We cannot take the fact that he has endangered you and your child lightly. But of course, we will take the fact that he is _still_
your husband into account. As to exactly what is to be done, that," he said with as he looked up to Hallmaster, "is not up to me." **And lucky for that bastard Jhonnel too!**

Fielton cleared his throat. "I want to make it clear, Miryene. If you were to say you didn't want to be married to him anymore, I would understand. You would have a place here still, and you'd be taken care of. You're not trapped in marriage to him." The fact that Daigoro had accused him of forcing her into marriage against her will to begin with still stung a little. "I understand, Master Fielton," Miryene replied calmly. "But I don't feel trapped. I'm... I'm not pleased with him. But I love him, and I'm not ready to give up on him." And next time Jio decided to scream in her face about it, that's _exactly_ what she'd tell him! Daigoro cursed inwardly. That man did not deserve such loyalty after the things he had done to Miyrene. But he kept his tone even. "So you would like to go back to him in the future then? You would not like to have a divorce?"

"I hope that I'll be able to save my marriage," Miryene replied a little stiffly. "Which is why I'm begging you to find someone who can help him."

Daigoro kept his inner thoughts to himself. He hated being mixed up in this, but he hated even more the fact that it was _her_ choice and he could not do to the man all that he felt he deserved. "I'm sure the Hallmaster will do all he can." "I'll send to Amethyst Cliff tomorrow and request their healer come and meet with Jhonnel," Fielton said after a moment. "But I have to request, Miryene... you can't go to see him. I don't want him in the Hall. Not until the healer clears it."

"Master Fielton, may I also suggest that we explain the situation to Jhonnel's parents. They should take measures to make sure he is given no access to his children until the healer clears them. Or else we can move them back here to the Hall where we can protect them." He looked at Miyrene, knowing that the children would be her primary concern.

"We'll take care of it," he replied, looking at Miryene. "His children will be safe, Miryene. If Jhonnel's parents are willing to come to the Hall, I'll find quarters for them and the children."

Miryene nodded, giving Daigoro a faint smile. "Thank you, Master Fielton...
Master Daigoro. I appreciate your efforts." Daigoro nodded and stood. It was not the solution he would have liked. He wished they could send Jhonnel far away so that Miryene would never have to face that man again. But it was her choice, not his. With a sigh and a nodd to Master Fielton he stood to his feet. "Shall I go speak his parents, then, Fielton?"

Fielton nodded. "And I'll go to the Healer Hall first thing in the morning.
For the time being, Miryene, I'd like you to stay here with Cinale... it might be best if you're not alone for a while." When the woman nodded again, Fielton ushered his 'second out. "You go talk to Jhonnel's parents," Fielton said in a voice that brooked no argument. "I'm going to go inform Jhonnel that he's confined to his cot until we decide his fate. And Daigoro?"
Fielton lowered his voice. "If Jhonnel is caught outside of his cot, he's to be ejected from the Vintner Hall territory. Forcibly." "Yes sir," Daigoro nodded, his eyes just daring that bastard Jhonnel to try.
