Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 4 of Turn 4

He was sitting in the infirmary waiting for his turn to be looked at by the journeyman. He thought very hard about trying to remember something. The pretty lady told him his name was Vykor, but it just never seemed to stick.
The only thing he ever seemed to remember with any clarity was Wavebird, the little blue critter.

Qari had just been refilling some of the contents of her healer bag when she spotted an old friend. "Vykor! Hey, how you do'in? What'd you do to get you into the infermary?" Her voice was cheerful but concerned as she walked up to his sickbed. The young man had always intrigued her, she couldn't help it that she noticed the quiet ones.

He looked at her with a completely blank expression. "I.. I'm sorry. Did I used to know you? Maybe you could help me remember who I am." With that last thought, his expression turned hopeful.

Qari was rendered speechless by his words. It took a moment for the healer side of her rationale to kick in. **He must have fallen or gotten hit in the head which caused him to have a memory lapse or something.**

She smiled weakly at the remnants of the sweet young man she had been so interested in. "Sure Vykor, I'll help you. I'm Qarinoa," she stopped not sure what to tell him, "what would you like to know?"

"Well, umm... I guess just start telling me about you and how we knew each other, I guess." he said.

The beautiful redhead blushed slightly, "Well we went to candidate classes together. I helped you a lot on learning the general anatomy of dragons."
she smiled slightly, "I guess you were something new to me, a breath of fresh air."

"You mean I was a candidate? Was I any good?" he asked.

Qari shrugged, "I guess so. You were rather shy. But I don't think you ever failed to learn what you needed to. I mean, it's not a matter of how good you are when it comes to being a candidate. I guess the only way to measure yourself is whether you Impressed, which you haven't yet."

Vykor smiled. "Ok, so I don't have a dragon, but I was a good student. Well, if I learned it all once, I can learn it again, right? Where should I start?"

Qari looked thoughtful, "You'll need to talk to the Weyrlingmaster about getting things to study. I mean I would be glad to help you with the the healing related subjects but beyond that I think you should talk to the Weyrlingmaster." She paused and then asked him, "How far back do you begin to remember things?"

"Well, I don't remember anything before waking up in the infirmary a few days ago, but a lot of things are already familiar. Things like, I already know that gold dragons are queens and call the shots, and they don't breath fire. Yet things about me and my life are a complete blank. Does that make sense?"

The red head nodded as she vaguely recalled reading about head injuries, and that one of the basic outcomes is the loss of memory of one's self but not of one's society and basic things like talking, eating, reading, etc. She chidded herself for not paying more attention to the mindhealing hides she had had to read as a junior apprentice.

"It makes sense," she stopped speaking as she felt a sudden feeling of loss then recovered her senses, "I'm sorry, I just, shards." she ran a hand through her hair, "It's just hard to believe that we might have lost the person you used to be."

"Was I that likeable? The nice lady that's helping me... ummm... Nocte? I think? She said I hardly knew anyone."

Qari blushed again, "Well you weren't _not_ liked. _I_ liked you," she stopped to figure out what to say and figured she could say what she wanted, she was with H'mos and Vykor with Nocte. "I was...attracted to you because you were so shy and quiet. You kept to your self. It was kind of nice to find someone like that in a place," she gestured around her implying the Weyr, "where nothing anyone does is a secret." She smiled beautifully trying to act cool even though she felt _very_ awkward telling someone who didn't remember her that she had been attracted to them. "You had Nocte though and I got the hint and decided to just enjoy your secret personality as a friend."

"Ok. Did I have any friends?" he asked.

She nodded and shrugged slightly at the same time, "Like I said, you had Nocte and as far as I know B'drin." she paused, "At least they seemed like to only people you really talked to."

Vykor racked his brain. "I... I don't remember B'drin. And I don't recall seeing him around here recently. Is he mad at me for something?"

The weyrling shook her head, "I have no idea, maybe he just hasn't heard about you being here."

"Nocte told me that he brought me here. Maybe I should go find him. Do you know where I should start?"

"Um, well I could have my dragon bespeak his to find out where he is or ask him to come visit you." Qari suggested.

"That sounds good. I'd like to meet him." He paused for a moment.
"Again."

Qari nodded, "Okay." **Arminath will you please tell B'drin's dragon that his rider is wanted at the infermary by Vykor.**

The young green complied, }:Lumyth, mine says that yours is needed at the infermary for Vykor.:{ }: B'drin, Arminath says Vykor needs you.:{ His brown nosed him. He had been avoiding Vykor out of guilt. He knew it was his own fault. Now he was being called to his friends side and he was afraid. }:You should go. You will feel better.:{ B'drin nodded numbly as he stood and made his way to the infurmiry. He paused at the doorway and took a breath. He quickly found his friends bed.
"Hello Vykor." He said softly as he fought back tears.

Qari felt suddenly like she was intruding. But she couldn't draw herself away from the sadness she saw in the brownrider's eyes, the pain, the healer in her kept her rooted to the spot.

Vykor looked up at him. "You must be B'drin. How are you?" He was very happy about being able to meet a new person.

"I... I have been well. How are you feeling?" He asked nervously. As he looked at the man lying in front of him the guilt flashed through him harder. B'drin was a large man but he had a very gentle heart. "I... I'm..
so...so... sorry. It's all my fault..." It spilled from his lips as he knelt beside the bed. "I never should have called out ot you. I knew better. If I hadn't, you never would have fallen." He put his head down, unable to look his friend in the face.

"The healer's told me I slipped. I don't think you could have known that would happen. If you can see into the future, though, you must be the best rider there is. I'm not mad at you. I'm just happy to have another person to talk to." Vykor beamed, which is something rarely seen from him to begin with.

B'drin looked at him and gave him a slight smile. "Thank you. Hearing you say you don't blame me helps." He stood and found a seat. He sat beside his friend and gave a small smile to Qari.

The weyrling gave an encouraging smile back. She looked back at her friend and smiled wider to see him happy, "I think I'll be going Vykor, You'll remember me now right?" she asked playfully.

"Don't worry, I won't." Vykor smiled as he bid his new friend goodbye.

Qari beamed, "Good." She patted his shoulder and leaned down to give him a peck on the cheak then squeezed the brownrider's shoulder before heading out of the infermary feeling surprisingly accomplished.

B'drin smiled and turned to Vykor. "So, where shall we begin?"
