N'kalen smiled to himself and he walked towards the chamber where the Starsmiths worked. His plan was coming together nicely. He smiled at the man working. "I'm N'kalen, looking for Journeyman Kraygh."
"Yes?" Grey eyes scanned the face of the bluerider as he waited for him to say what he wanted.
"I wanted to see if you had a bit of time to teach me a little about the stars. I'm, ah, planning a romantic evening and I thought if I knew a little..."
"I see," the Journeyman laughed. "I hope she, or he's worth it."
"I like to think he is...or will be, at any rate."
"I see." a question came to the Journeyman's mind. "Where are you taking this person?"
"There is a little island, not too far from the Weyr out of the Cove. I suppose straight flying it would take a candlemark, but of course, with dragons, we don't have to worry."
"In which direction?" asked the Starsmith. "It will have a bearing on what is visible."
"A bit to the west, not too much."
"I see," Kraygh rose to his feet and pulled out a chart, spreading the large hid on his desk. "This section here," he gestured to the left hand side of the chart. "Most of these constellations should be visible."
"Do you have a copy that I could borrow, to study?"
"Not an annotated one like this, but if you can get a hide, I can let you borrow it to make one yourself," offered the Journeyman.
"I've got a hide in my quarters that should do the trick. It'll be fairly easy to copy everything down, I think." N'kalen studied the map, mentally calculating the work required.
"We'll need it back tomorrow."
"That shouldn't be a problem. I'll drop it off after drills, if that is acceptable?"
"More than acceptable."
"Thank you for your help Journeyman. This rider had better be worth the trouble," N'kalen said with a grin.
"I hope it works out for you bluerider."
"Thank you, Journeyman."
