N'kalen waited for Tilarth and Dyaera to appear for their appointment at the dragonhealing quarters. He was a bit early, and grabbed a book to read until they appeared.
Dyaera arrived first, moving steadily if slowly. "Tilarth's coming.
She was being lazy."
N'kalen smiled. "We'll wait on her then. There is nothing wrong with being a bit lazy."
"Do you mind if I sit down?" Dyaera asked, wobbling a little as she shifted from one foot to the other. "The healers were torturing me again this morning." She knew she was going to have to work hard to regain her mobility, but sometimes she thought being a cripple for life might be easier than the therapy sessions with the healers.
"It won't get me into trouble with your healers now, will it? I have no objections." N'kalen grinned and pulled up an extra chair.
Dyaera sank into it gratefully, heaving a relieved sigh. "I hate physical therapy."
"I can only imagine." Shards, he never had to go through anything like she was. "Thank Faranth I've never been seriously injured."
"It's not very much fun," she pointed out unnecessarily. Her head tilted to the side for a moment as her eyes unfocused, then she smiled.
"Tilarth's here." She turned her head to the entrance of the dragonhealer infirmary as the small green dragon landed lightly and folded her wings.
N'kalen rose and walked over to the green. "Hello Tilarth. How are you feeling today?"
Dyaera smiled as Tilarth preened a little for N'kalen. "She likes you. And she says that she feels fine. The candidates and weyrlings have been helping me take good care of where her scars are."
N'kalen smiled. "I'm glad she's feeling well. Let me take a look at the scars, please Tilarth."
Tilarth held obediently still as N'kalen examined the minor scarring on her hide. Her injuries had been comparatively minor compared to Dyaera's, but it hadn't stoped her rider from fretting herself silly over it.
"Very good. Everything looks like it is healed well. There isn't as much in the way of scarring as was initially expected, which is very positive."
N'kalen patted Tilarth's hide. "Thank you Tilarth. You are a model patient."
The green dragon turned to give Dyaera a pleased look, and her rider groaned. "She says I should learn from her. Do we need to come back again for you to check on her?"
"Bring her back in a sevenday, for a final check. Sooner if you notice any problems, but as she is nearly 100% healed, I do not forsee any problems."
Dyaera beamed. "Thank you! I'll bring her back."
