Swift cleared his throat. "Er - Journeywoman Trellyn?"
"Hello Swift." Trellyn said as she covered the last of the eggs she was turning and stood up. "How has your day been?"
"Longer than usual with Threadfall. But I'm going off duty now. Are they all right?" he asked, nodding at the mound of sand and thinking of the eggs beneath it.
She nodded, giving him a smile. "They're fine. I think they'll be ready for people in a couple of days. This is my first clutch so I'm kind of playing it by ear."
"Do you have people queueing up to get one?" Some thought they were pests, some thought they were unsuitable for dolphineers. He thought they were just perfect. Pet-sized miniature dragons.
"Lots" she replied as she leaned against one of the tables. "Mosler wants a few, and thats his right, to give to the journeymen who don't have one. After what happened to Tippo its understandable to want somebody watching your back. He said he wasn't taking them all of course so I have a few to trade out."
"Trade for what?" Swift asked curiously. He would love one, of course, but he didn't know what he had to exchange with the young journeywoman.
It wasn't as if he was one of her peers who could offer to take some of her less appealing duties or anything like that.
Trellyn looked at the man and gave a sly grin, "Why Swift, are you interested in one of my eggs?"
"Well -" He paused and then nodded, seeing no point in denying it.
"Yes. If you have enough."
She liked Swift, he was sweet and helpful, and always nice to talk to when she was bored or lonely. It was true he probably didn't have anything really to offer her in trade, and it was probably too expensive for him to right out buy one from her considering the going rate for an egg. But sometimes, it wasn't about the price, and he could probably use a good companion. "What about some of those baking lessons you mentioned to me before? I think I could consider a couple of months, and a lot of headaches, in exchange for one of Carry's eggs."
"Well, if that's enough, then of course. Teaching people baking and cooking is a pleasure." Except when the people didn't want to learn, but Trellyn wouldn't be like that. "Are you _sure?_"
"I'm sure, it sounds like a deal then?" she asked as she stuck out her hand to shake on it.
Swift took the journeywoman's hand and just nodded, his grin more than enough to let her know how he felt about the deal.
