Physical Description of Persona:
Tall and weather-beaten, with sun-bleached brown hair going grey, Swift looks like somebody who has spent much of his life outdoors - which he has. Not his working life, but at other times he is out in all weathers which has given his face a deep tan and fans of creases from the outside corners of his light-grey eyes. He has always been a swimmer and had plenty of opportunity to indulge his passion, giving him a muscular broad-shouldered, narrow hipped shape that hasn't been much affected by his increasing Turns. With long, long legs and ordinarily pleasant features made notable by the light-coloured eyes in such a weathered face, Swift is an attractive man.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Although easy-going and friendly, Swift does have the tendency to hold grudges forever. It's not much of a problem for others though (for he never considers a grudge a problem for himself) because it occurs so seldom. Since Swift rubs along well with most people disagreements are rare. Mostly he likes to get on with his own business and presumes everybody else is busy getting on with theirs.

History of Persona:
Swift was the child of Northern dolphineers and expressed an early interest in kitchen work. Although a good swimmer and fond of dolphins he just found the idea of kitchen work far more intriguing and his slow progress in lessons suggested an apprenticeship was not a likely future for him.

Swift was seventeen when he and Belevi, a slightly older dolphineer journeywoman, married and became parents. There were no other children to the relationship because Belevi never recovered from an illness that developed during her pregnancy. Two Turns after the babe's birth the illness had run its course and she was dead. Their son, Race, had been cared for whenever necessary by Swift's parents and after his mother's death remained with them permanently.

In 1190 when Northern dolphineers were invited to take the place of their Southern counterparts at the Hall at Topaz Sea Hold he found himself invited to go along with the dolphineers. He found their teasing declarations that they couldn't live without his cooking less enticing than the thought of seeing the Southern Continent itself, something he had always wished to do. Race was in his late thirties, married, with a fair of daughters, and a good enough friend to his father to encourage him to go. Swift settled in well at his new home, enjoying exploring the different seafoods as much as the surrounding coast.

The Pass arrived and Swift adjusted to that, too, wishing for a while that he was closer to Race and the granddaughters, but on the whole he was happy where he was. The girls were grown up and starting families of their own that he had never met but letters went to and fro which eased the feeling of being cut off from his family.

Thirteen Turns after arriving at Topaz Sea Hold, Swift was again on the move in the wake of the storm that devastated the area. The new Dolphin Hall built in an abandoned Sea Hold near Dolphin Cove Weyr suits him as well as any place he's been - or will when the work on it is all done. Having a Weyr so close is a novelty and these days Swift's letters to his son are as much about dragons as dolphins.

Red is a small, dainty blue. His colour is a light blue with darker dappling on his hindquarters. He is interested in everything and particularly affectionate toward his 'friend' Swift.
