To Remind Me of My Manners

Date Posted: 23rd March 2007

Characters: Y'sani, Ylisahn
Description: Y'sani reports to Ylisahn to find out his assigned chores for his punishment.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 28 of Turn 4

"Weyrlingmaster," Ylisahn said in greeting, getting to her feet to greet the man who entered her office.

Y'sani smiled and reached out a hand. "I'm sorry to bother you on a day you should be able to relax, but I'm afraid I was a rather naughty boy."

"Oh, really? And don't worry about bothering me. I come in here for a couple of candlemarks on a restday morning and take a little bit of time off elsewhere in the sevenday.

Sitting, Y'sani stretched out his long legs in front of him and sighed.
"I got in a bit of an altercation. The Weyrleader would like me to scrub pots and help with laundry for a sevenday to remind me of my manners."

"Oh dear. And you, the Weyrlingmaster!" Ylisahn laughed. If the offense had been serious the Weyrleader wouldn't be suggesting punishments that had to do with pots and pans. "That will keep people talking for a while. I'm sure we can fit you in, though. We always welcome another pair of hands."

Y'sani shrugged one shoulder. "The weyrlings could use a lesson in how _everyone_ deals with the consequences of their actions," he said lightly. "And to be perfectly honest, I could use a break from _them_."

"In that case, welcome to the lower caverns." She pulled a sheet of paper from the shelf beside her desk and peered the the much amended roster on it. "I assume you'll be working your normal day and then doing the pots and laundry outside those candlemarks?"

"I'm going to try," he said shortly. "However, this soon after a Blooding, I don't actually have time outside of my duties to do much more than sleep." And shards, he barely had time to do even that! "I will have someone covering for me for a few candlemarks in the afternoon so I can work out my punishment. And in the case of an emergency, I'll need to leave and come back later."

Ylisahn nodded. "Luckily laundry and pot washing can be walked away from. How about laundry in the afternoon when there's somebody there to supervise you, and pots any time. Honestly, there's always washing up available any time day or night."

"That sounds perfect." Y'sani smiled. "Don't tell anyone, but your pots and laundry might be enjoyable compared to an afternoon with the weyrlings."

"I certainly hope it's less stressful," the Headwoman agreed. "So just wander in and explain you have my approval for your 'chores'. I'm sure there'll be no lack of people willing to explain how things work."

"I'm sure," he replied dryly. Getting to order around the Weyrlingmaster would be a rare treat for the laundry workers. He could only hope he hadn't managed to offend any of them in his time at Dolphin Cove.

"Normally, I believe, the Headwoman would report to the person setting the punishment when it's completed but I'm sure the Weyrleader will take your word for that."

Y'sani snorted. As if he felt like facing J'darin right now. "I suppose I can take care of that. If there's nothing else you need to tell me, I should be getting back to my work. I'm sure I'll have plenty of extra to do now that I'm your newest assistant."

Ylisahn got to her feet. "I'm sure that you will. Good luck, Weyrlingmaster."
