Grasping At The Air

Description: Mosler and Thanja talk about Tippo's death.

Date: month 2, day 6 of Turn 4

"Did you find out any more about what happened to that man of yours?"
asked the Hallsecond as she sat down by the dock. Her legs dangled out over the water as she watched a few of the Dolphins playing in the surf.

Mosler shook his head and looked out into the water. "Not really.
Holder Rollif didn't know anything, and that seaman of his that found Tippo's body was to numbrained to notice anything other than a dead body."

"Numbrained, or not wanting to talk?" asked the Printer.

He thought a moment then shook his head. "It's possible, but I didn't sense anything other than stupidity from the man. I had them treking through the island all afternoon and he never gave any indication of shiftiness."

"He didn't say anything else about what was there when he found the body, like a knife or anything?"

Mosler sighed, "No, he said he didn't find anything, but he wasn't looking for a crime. He kept insisting Tippo fell."

"Maybe he did, or was it obviously not the fall that killed him?"

He took a deep breath as he looked over the water, taking in the scene of the day's activity around the Hall. "I suppose he could have just fallen." Mosler admitted slowly. "But it would be a pretty sharding coincidence if he did after what he wrote he was going to investigate."

"Is there anybody who might want you to think he had fallen?" asked Thanja after a moment. "To stop people finding out whatever he had seen?"

"That's what I was hoping you and those harpers could maybe figure out.
Any luck?" Mosler asked.

"I think you'll need to speak to Almonteo on that. I know he was thinking of asking the Hold Harper to discreetly look into it, but I've not heard yet if they've reported back."

Mosler looked down at the ground and nodded, "I understand, And I do appreciate everything you've done. It just seems like I'm grasping at the air with this. I know something happened, but I can't prove anything."

"It'll come out into the open. Almonteo's harper's are good at what they do."

"I've sent out word that all posted dolphineers are to play it on the safe side, and to send word by firelizard or fly the dragon flag if the dolphins discover anything." he said. The dolphins had been quite distressed when they learned of the dolphineers death and had started looking for bad ships.

"I can pass word to any Printers as well, another eye or two watching out might help." Mosler nodded, "Any help would be great. Tippo had discribed what he thought to be great industry on that island. If it's not there now, it had to have gone somewhere." "I'll get a message out to them then."
