Description: Jynrek meets with R'masu to see how he's been.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 3, day 4 of Turn 4
"R'masu... please, have a seat." Jynrek slid the brownrider's file out so he could refer to it. "I'm sorry you got shuffled around... I'm afraid it's been quite hectic around here today."
"I understand," R'masu said as he sat down.
Jynrek scanned down the notes scrawled in Abrei's hasty handwriting.
"How have you been doing lately?"
"I had a rough day last month, but I got through it," the brownrider said. "It wasn't as bad as last turn." The anniversary of the first Fall was always rough, but it had been getting better with every turn.
The anniversary of their weyrmating, though-- that was much worse. He had some time before he had to worry about that.
"And you usually talked to U'val when things were rough, didn't you?"
Jynrek asked, finding the reference to an appointment with U'val just before the bluerider had fallen ill.
R'masu brushed at an imaginary speck on his pants. "Yes. How is he?"
Jynrek managed a smile even though he certainly didn't feel particularly happy with U'val's progress. "He's awake and doing better.
But he probably won't be seeing patients for some time." If ever.
"I hope he gets better," the brownrider said. U'val had always been helpful, and to have him out sick made it feel like part of R'mesu's anchor was gone.
}:I'm still here. I am your anchor.:{ Kannoth sent love and support.
"Well, I'd like to find you someone else to talk to for the time being, if you're open to the idea. You may not need any help now, but it won't hurt to have someone handy if you do."
"I think that's a good idea," R'mesu agreed. A mindhealer was his safety net. Most of the time it was enough to know that he _could_ go to someone if the depression hit.
Jynrek nodded. "I'll check your drill schedule and try to find a time to work you in. I'm afraid we're a little short handed, with U'val gone." And though Jynrek knew rumors of the infirmary's new guest were starting to circulate, it wasn't his place to assist them in spreading.
"Yes, of course. I don't mind waiting a few days. I wouldn't want anyone to overwork themselves." Like Master Abrei had.
"Don't worry. We'll find a time for you. How is everything else going, while I have you here?"
"Kannonth is well. He's been flirting more than usual lately, and I think it's part of some scheme to put me in a better mood." R'masu smiled and sent love to his lifemate. "I've been working on a few new things, and I might premier them at the new tavern at the Vinter Hall."
"Excellent! I hope I'll get a chance to hear them. You're an excellent composer." Jynrek closed the file and smiled. "Maybe I'll have to go and visit this new tavern myself. It sounds fun."
"It's a pleasant place. The staff does an excellent job," R'masu said.
"Then maybe I'll have to find the time." Or make it. Jynrek had never had a problem with knowing when it was time to stop working, but he was starting to see how Abrei could have managed to spend as much time as she did in the infirmary. There was _always_ something that needed attention. "If you don't need anything else, R'masu, then I'll send you a notice once we find a time for you to visit. And if you need anything in the meantime, don't hesitate to tell me."
"Thank you, Master Jynrek."
