Description: Yara and D'ren meet on the beach
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 4, day 28 of Turn 4
Yara was rather taken aback when she rounded the point
only to see a bronze dragon on the beach making his
way to the water. Wanting to familiarize herself with
her new home she had been doing some exploring of the
various beaches, but though she had seen many dragons
flying above this was the first she had seen so close.
Unable to resist Yara continued down the beach with a
smile for the young dragonrider. If the pair was
seeking solitude she should be able to tell rather
quickly and leave them be.
"Hi!" D'ren waved as she approached. He didn't
recognize the woman, but there were lots of people
around the Weyr he didn't know, especially with the
cleanup still going on.
"Good day," Yara answered, surprised at how young the
man looked. "I hope I'm not intruding, but I think
this is the closest I've been to a dragon, and I
couldn't resist."
"Are you new to the Weyr? Or just visiting?" he asked
as Menanth continued on into the water.
"I just transferred from the Northern Dolphin Hall so
I'm new. Trying to familiarize myself with the area,"
she answered.
He smiled. "Ahh. I've been here almost a Turn and a
half, so I could help you find a few good spots."
"That's a kind offer and one I'll take you up on, I
think," Yara replied. "I'm Yara, Junior Journeywoman
at the Dolphin Hall."
"Nice to meet you, Yara. I'm D'ren, rider of bronze
Menanth." He smiled toward his lifemate. "He's quite
fond of dolphins."
}:They are fun,.:{ the bronze said, watching the waves
and moving deeper.
"As am I," Yara answered brightly. "So does Menanth
come to swim with the dolphins often? And do you ever
join him?"
"We try to get out and swim with the dolphins once a
sevenday," D'ren answered. "And I usually join him."
"That's wonderful! I've just been getting to know the
local pod, myself."
"They're a friendly bunch, though I've heard that's
true of most dolphins," he said. "If you'd like to
join us, we wouldn't mind."
"I'd like that," she answered heading slowly toward
the water. "You said you've been here a turn and a
half. Where was home before that?"
"The Harper Hall," D'ren smiled. "Which is also now
here. And before that it was my family's Hold near
Emerald Falls."
}:Can I call them now?":{ Menanth asked.
**Give us a minute.**
"A dragon-rider and a harper! That is impressive
indeed," Yara commented, "You must have experiences
galore to tell about. Though I suppose with the
hurricane, not the most pleasant of late," her brow
furrowed thinking of the destruction that had been
described to her. She had heard rumors of the
devastation and trials the Weyr had faced.
D'ren shook his head. "We've been really busy lately.
Having a candlemark to relax is a treat."
Yara shook her head. "I can only imagine. Well, at
least you _have_ found a candlemark to relax," though
she had numerous questions about the effects of the
hurricane on the Weyr, Yara, thought it unfair to ask
the young bronzerider. This was his time off,
after all, and she had only just met him. Taking off
at a run, she called over her shoulder, "Race you to
the water."
"As long as you don't pout when I beat you!" he called
as he ran after her.
