Description: Kirra's birthingday present hatches.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 8, day 1 of Turn 3
Kirra had been anxious all day. The fire-lizard egg was due to hatch about six days after she had gotten it and it was the seventh. She had been taking very good care of the egg, keeping it warm, and she had a good supply of meat ready for the little fire-lizard that was to come any day now. It was when she had come back from a strangely hard session of class to check on the egg when she heard a bit of movement in the pot she kept it in. Excited she jumped up and ran to get the meat that she knew she would need to feed the hungry little flit that would emerge from the egg very soon.
Running back to the pot she gingerly lifted the hot top off to reveal an egg with cracks running all through it. She watched in excitement as the cracks lengthened and small pieces of shell fell to the bottom of the pot asthe egg jirated this way and that. She held her breath as she saw a little reptilian nose poke through the shell. It was a bronze! She let out her breath in relief. She knew that no matter what color she would have been just as happy, but she had_really_
wanted a bronze. The little creature made the hole larger with little claws. Reaching into the pot Kirra finished the grand efforts of the flit by pulling off the excess shell fragments. Smiling at the cry of the hungry hatchling she fed him the pieces of meat, sending loving thoughts to him with every bit he ate. Soon the little fire-lizard was content and with happy eyes he curled up in Kirra's arms to sleep. She couldn't believe it, this little thing had been her wish ever since she had seen that Bronze Dragon in the sky. "I'll call you Sunny. You are a beautiful bit of the sun come to warm me." The liitle bronze shifted position as if he knew that he had just been given his name.
