"Erh, I'm pretty sure that is not a right place for a little girl to be.
Please come back down. Without falling!" Ednan asked. He wasn't sure what had made him look up and spot the little girl up in the roof. Probably some noise she had made. He recognized her as a daughter of one of the journeywomen.

"Ok." Disappointed that her adventure had been cut short, Selka walked to the edge of the roof and sat down. She turned over and lowered herself to chest-level. Crossing her arms, she let her elbows support her weight as she let one foot search for the toehold she had used in her ascent. Finding it, she lowered herself again until she was able to reach a nearby crate with her other foot. Once standing on the crate, she decided to jump as it would be faster than the way she got up. When she landed, her teeth rattled and the ground stung her feet. She looked up and tried her best smile.

Ednan gave a worried grimace when she was coming down. What it was with little girls and high places? He used to have a friend in Emerald Falls as a child who was always climbing trees (or hiding under tables). "Where's your mother or fostermother?" Ednan asked when she was back on ground. He presumed that since she wasn't crying, she was all right.

"I don't know," the girl desperately wanted to avoid this man talking to her mother. "It's ok if I climb up there," she lied. "My mama lets me."

"I rather doubt that. _MY_ mother wouldn't let me or my siblings climb to the roofs. Even grown ups aren't allowed to climb the roof unless they are there to fix it. Let's find your parent," Ednan snorted and putting his hand on her shoulder, started to guide her towards the hall's entrance.

Supaka put aside the hides she was working on, closed her eyes, and rubbed her temples. She had just picked up a new stack of work to begin when Ednan appeared in the doorway. She started to greet the journeyman in the usual manner when she noticed that Selka was just behind him and neither of them looked happy.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, Journeywoman Supaka, but I just found your daughter on the shed's roof. One of the sheds at the docks, you know,"
Ednan said.

Although she really wanted to put her head down on the table and cry, she took a deep breath and looked at her daughter. "I am so disappointed in you. You told me you were going to the dining hall to get a snack. Why did you go to the docks? And what possessed you to climb on the roof?" The child shrugged and began to cry. Supaka shook her head. "That's not going to work, Selka. Sit in that chair over there and don't move. Since I can't trust you to go where you say you are going, you'll have to stay here in the room with me until I've finished my work." As Selka moved to the chair and sat down, Supaka crossed the room to speak with Ednan. "I simply don't know what I am going to do with her. How did she get up there?"

"With a help of a crates stacked along the shed's wall. She climbs really well," Ednan replied.

"You are kind to find something nice to say about a very naughty little girl." Supaka stifled a laugh. It wouldn't do to have Selka think this was not a serious offense. "Thank you for getting her down before she got seriously hurt."

"No problem, m'am." Ednan replied.
