A Flower for Nasiria- Part 1

Writers: Stasha, Vanessa T Sommerfeld
Date Posted: 31st January 2008

Characters: Nasiria, Ch'lis, A'mus
Description: A'mus attempts to speak Nasiria, while Ch'lis attempts to save him from her
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 7 of Turn 4

Ch'lis had spent the beginning of his day doting on Omath, and Mare, cleaning his dragon's hide, and feeding his flit's bottomless stomach.
But to his surprise he was not accompanied by A'mus like he normally was.
Where was that boy? He asked as he finished oiling his flits hide and set her on Omath.

}:Inith won't tell me where he is:{ He paused }:He says that A'mus said not to tell you:{
**What? That can't be right. What would A'mus not want to tell me?**
They always told each other everything. Why would he try to hide something from him? Omath must have been mistaken, but when he peered around the winter lakes he realized that he had not seen A'mus all morning. Could it be true? Was A'mus keeping a secret from _him_, his best friend?

~*~

Did she get the message? A'mus pondered nervously. He still could not believe that he was doing this, but with the support of his cousin, he was actually going to do it, he was going to try and talk to Nasiria. He had seen her so many times, walking passed him during class when he was a candidate, and she never even bothered to look at him, but he saw her and was completely taken by her grace and beauty. After he Impressed, he thought that maybe she would talk to him and he could get to know her at least as a friend, until Inith was ready for such a relationship. But Ch'lis's voice continued to nip at the back of his mind. No, A'mus refused to believe that Nasiria was as bad as he said she was. Yeah, he knew her reputation, but maybe she just had not found the right man yet.

After the encouraging words that his cousin, V'resat, gave him, and the little nudge that he needed, A'mus had devised his plan. He sent V'resat to the warm beaches of the Southern Continent, and had him fetch one of the most exotic flowers he could find. He brought two back, and A'mus had V'resat send his flit to Nasiria giving her one of the flowers and a note that read:

/Meet me in the Dining Hall at the 9th candle mark on the rest day-
Sincerely, Your Admirer/ And now, here was A'mus, nervously waiting for a response. Would she come? He held the other flower in his lap as it whirled between his fingers with its violet and red hues.

}:It's a pretty flower:{ Inith replied encouragingly, though he did not completely understand the importance of the girl. }:She'll come:{ He hoped the bronze was right.

~*~

Nasiria moved her fingers through her hair with her free hand while she held the magnificent bloom in the other. Only a dragon rider would be able to go to such a place as to retrieve such a beautiful flower.
Her heart fluttered in her chest as she entered the Dining Hall and looked around expectantly.

A'mus felt his own heart quickly float into his throat while the sweat collected in his hands. He peered around, attempting to spot her amongst the people that drifted in and out of the dining hall, hoping she was there. Then there she was. Everything around her seemed to fade, as her divine beauty radiated around her.

}:How can't she love you? I love you:{ Inith projected his bias opinion.

**But she's not a dragon, she's a woman** And a seductively gorgeous one at that; one that always toyed with his attention, pulling his eyes away from the Weyrlingmaster during class when he was a candidate.

}:Don't worry:{ Inith continued on, though there was something about her already that intimidated the bronze.

But he was worried. He had heard of Nasiria's standards, but he met them now. He was a bronzerider, of all things too, and would go through the hottest fires that could ever emit from a dragon's mouth to be by her side. "Nasiria!" He called through the crowd, as he waved the other exotic flower into the air hoping to catch her eye.

~*~

Ch'lis was too curious for his own good. He could not help but interfere in what ever A'mus was getting himself into. If anything, he had to keep the boy out of trouble some how. After all, what would A'mus do without him?

}:Inith said not to interfere:{
**I'm only looking out for him** He whistled to get his flit's attention.

Mare simply glanced over to him, her head turning this way and that, with her green jeweled eyes, as she projected emotions of her own curiosity. What did her friend want?

Ch'lis attempted another whistle and sent her an image of her sitting in his hand. Training her was more challenging than he originally expected.

She only wanted to please him. After she pondered over his action she realized what he wanted and was more than happy to fly into his hand.
She was still small enough to sit onto his palm. Once she landed she rubbed her triangular head against his thumb as her eyes settled into deep emerald blue tone.

"Find A'mus," he spoke as he sent her a mental image of his best friend, and attached the urge to see him.

Mare could not understand, she tried again, and Ch'lis repeated the command. She caught the image of his friend floating to her, but she did not see him anywhere. Where was he? she seemed to ask back.

Ch'lis sighed with partial frustration, but stroked Mare to keep her calm.

}:She doesn't understand:{ Omath answered for her.

**I know. I guess this means I'll have to find him myself**

~*~

Her attention finally caught, Nasiria's face fell. **A weyrling? A weyrling!** She wished she could disappear back through the door. It wasn't likely no one noticed them with him flailing like a dragonet.
She hurried to his table just to stop him from drawing any more attention to them. "Is this some kind of joke?"

"A joke? No," her words caught him off guard. He was not expecting that. He searched for what to say, attempting to calm her down. "I didn't mean to deceive you," that was it "I just wanted to finally talk to you," okay just one step at a time... "I mean, how could someone not want too, you're the definition of beauty, Nasiria,"
there, he finally said it. "That flower, this flower," he held up the magnificent blossom, whirling it, before he brought it back down. "I tried finding the perfect flower for you, one that could possibly match you, and this was the closest I could find. And still," he shook his head as he set the blossom down, "I don't think I gave you much credit, because your beauty even surpasses the moons, and the stars.
So how could this flower ever challenge you?" He stopped, waiting to hear a response from her. All he could feel now was his stomach churning, and his blood pulsing. But he meant every word he had said, and he knew it had to merit for something.

And had A'mus been looking at anywhere but her, he would have seen Ch'lis emerge in the dining hall.

**What in sharding's name is he doing with that flaming wherry ass wench!** Ch'lis could scarcely believe that A'mus was talking to her, to _her_, a spoiled selfish weyrbrat who actually fancied herself worthy of a gold dragon, when not even a green would give her the time of day. Ch'lis knew her type, and knew that if A'mus, who was probably floundering right now, succeeded in charming the girl then it would all be over. Nasiria would demand that he could not associate with anything less than a brownrider, and she would have him dote on her every moment, even caring for her more than he would for Inith.

}:That would never happen:{ Omath grumbled as he sensed the sincereness in his rider. He must not like her and for good reason too. }:Inith:{ Omath spoke to the unheard bronze. }:Something is not right about that girl. Caution your rider:{
