Zephyr's Reunion

Writers: Stasha
Date Posted: 20th February 2008

Characters: Alasha
Description: Alasha comes to visit Dragonsfall Weyr for a few days
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 7 of Turn 4

Neloneth emerged from /between/, which was only a relief for Alasha; but still, it was /between/! There was something very alluring about the nothingness that took rider and dragon from one place to another.
Alasha always felt the rush of adrenaline when she was on dragon back, and for a moment she caught herself imagining herself high on her green dragon...

Zephyr's excited chatters brought Alasha back into reality as they descended down. He was nestled warmly in the space between her neck and her coat collar, but he had the urge to leap out and soar down.

}:Stay there little one:{ a voice warned him.

It was his big friend, Zephyr realized. He found that he wanted to leap out, but he received another stern warning, this time from Alasha. Very well. He would stay put... for now.

Her father eagerly awaited his daughter in the cool weyr bowl. Though the sun shined brightly the snow remained and chilled his feet, even in his heavy boots.

}:They're here!:{ Muroth informed his rider with much enthusiasm.
}:And the flit egg hatched. Neloneth says he's a bronze:{ A bronze? Well, A'berso did make sure to find what he thought was the best egg, but he never dreamed his daughter to have a bronze. She probably even lavished the little beast with affection too.

}:The flit is very content with her:{ His son's brown dragon circled in for a landing. The brown was graceful and skilled, tossing up very little snow as he touched the ground. When he saw Alasha dismount from Neloneth he felt himself lift. She seemed so content, and when he saw the little bronze peeking from his warm perch against her neck, he could see why. After A'bero hugged his daughter he beckoned them into the dining hall.

"When did he hatch?" A'berso asked of Alasha once they were in the warmth of the hall.

"About three nights ago," she replied as she slowly unbuttoned her coat.
Zephyr was completely exposed now as he rested against her neck.

He was handsome, A'berso realized, and it seemed that the beast was sure not to let anyone forget that.

"His name is Zephyr," she continued as her father raised a hand to the bronze firelizard allowing Zephyr to smell him.

The firelizard hesitated for a moment before letting the strange man touch him, but he recognized the scent, and it was similar to Alasha.
Zephyr allowed him to stroke his eye ridge and he noticed the man's touch was just as gentle as Alasha's. He crooned softly before the man's hand pulled away, and then Zephyr settled his cheek against Alasha's neck.

"I think he likes you," A'son grinned.

Zephyr did enjoy this new place. He crooned in Alasha's ear as he looked around the room. He had never seen so many of his bigger brothers and sister before, and there were also others like him. He wanted to go and join them, but Alasha was firm. He had to stay with her. Yet when he caught sight of the small green flit across the room he could not help it. He let out a joyful chirp before he leaped off of Alasha's shoulder and jumped /between/.

"Where did he go?" Her father asked in surprise.

Alasha was in disbelief. "I don't know." Where did that little flit go?
