Description: Aletta and Faristh return to DCW after thread fall and Aletta runs in to Kirra in the dinning hall.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 7, day 24 of Turn 3
The queen's wing had returned from fall and Farsith headed for thier weyr.
We're home Aletta. You eat, my bath can wait.::
Aletta smiled as she patted her dragon's side. **How kind of you dear.**
she replied.
Aletta found a table in the dinning hall that wasn't too busy. Most riders were bathing their dragons or visiting wounded wingmates in the infermary.
Kirra sighed, she was terrificlly bored with wiping down the tables in the dinning hall but chores were chores and she had nothing better to be doing anyway. She looked around at the few scattered clumps of weyrfolk. They were mostly all groups of people chating or eating.
Kirra was about to turn back to her cleaning when she spotted a young rider. The girl looked just a bit younger than Kirra and she looked very solomn. Kirranna walked over to the young rider and introduced herself.
"Hi, I'm Kirra. A Candidate." She gave the girl her hand to shake.
"Aletta, green Farsith's rider." The young rider replyed shaking herhand.
"Looking forward to the hatching?" she asked.
Kirra sat down across from the rider, eager to have a good distraction from her tedious chores.
"Oh, yes! I can't wait! What with all the chores and classes they make you take because they don't know what else to do with you since the hatching seems a bit faraway? Yeah I'm definantley ready to have the excuse that my dragon needs a bath." She smiled hoping that she had cheered up the young rider a bit.
"It sounds like a good excuse, but there's a lot of dragon to wash. NO matter what color you impress."
Kirra giggled, "That's true."
"How many times have you stood?" Aletta asked. "I stood twice."
"What me?" Kirra blushed, "I haven't stood once. I guess you could call me a late bloomer in Searches."
"No such thing. You were serched now because your lifemates waiting. I came here to train in a craft and found Farsith."
Kirra shrugged, "I guess so. So, what's it like being in the Queen's wing at your age?"
"It's better than the weyrling wing. Farsith likes it, says she likes "protecting" the queens." Aletta laughed. "She may be two turns but she thinks like a weyrling sometimes."
"So you enjoy it as well? I mean with the gold riders don't you feel like an underdog sometimes?" She didn't want to sound like she didn't apreciate greens. "I don't want to sound like I judge riders by their color but they _are_ queens."
"Gold dragons yeah, but think of all the hide work thier riders do? Not to mention getting chained to the ground everytime thier queens has a clutch on the sands." Aletta smiled "Besides right now it's mostly green and blues. With so many riders gounded we're kinda busy." She held up her hand, "I'm not saying the wings aren't doing thier jobs, T'moran's doing everything he can, I think he's handling it great, missing so many of us and dealing with the transfers from other Weyrs."
"Yes the chaos definately died down well enough in most of the Weyr. He's done a good job of handling everything, you're right." Kirra paused for a second, "So where are you from originally?"
"Topaz Sea Hold." Aletta said flatly.
"Oh" Kirra looked around uneasily. "I'm from Dolphin Hall."
"I had one brother left at the hold after the fevers but when the storm hit..." Aletta smiled weakly. "But I've got Farsith, she's all I need."
Kirra didn't want to continue on an akward subject so she followed the topic change, "So Farsith is everything to you huh? I mean it just seems that way with all the riders."
"You'll understand when she calls your name, whoever she is. Afterall what could be better than someone who knows everything. You never have to explain yourself or apolgize. And she'll love you forever."
"I hope I can have that."
"You where searched, there's a good chance you will. Not a promise or anything, but likely."
"Thanks." Kirra looked at her cleaning supplies with contempt. "I really have enjoyed talking to you but sadly I must get back to the tedious chore of cleaning the tables." She got up and put out her hand, "It was nice meeting you Aletta, I hope to talk to you more in the future."
"You too Kirra. And good luck at the hatching."
