Description: Arador comes to ask Causton a question regarding Teene
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 11, day 17 of Turn 4
Everyone seemed to know where Master Causton was. Either that, or no one did. Arador was sent on a chase through the Hall for the man. Eventually, he did catch up to the Master, and approached him, "Master Causton!"
Arador's voice bounced through the hallway, leaving no room for mishearing.
"A word with you if you please."
"Er, yes? Arador isn't it?" Causton turned at the sound of the mans voice and searched quickly for his name. "What can I do for you?"
"I need to speak with you." Arador glanced around wondering if the hallway was a place for such a discussion. "About Teene."
Causton felt himself stiffen, "Teene?" he asked, his eyes narrowing. Teene was like a younger sister to him, one he had become extremely protective of, his senses were heightened as he took in the mans bearing.
"Yes," Arador nodded, "Perhaps somewhere a little more private?"
"Oh?" his curiosity aroused, Causton indicated for Arador to preceed him.
"My office private enough?" he asked.
"Yes, that will be perfectly fine."
"Shall we then?"

Causton took a seat behind his desk, indicating to Arador that he take the seat opposite. "What is it you wish to discuss?" he asked, guardedly.
"Well, I'm afraid I can't go to Teene's father since he's not around."
Arador leaned forward in his chair, looking squarely at the Master.
"Frankly, Causton, I came to you since you seem to be the person to go to in this instance. I would like to take Teene as my wife. So, I am asking for her hand in marriage."
"What?" he hadn't been totally oblivious to the burgeoning relationshis between Arador and Teene, but surely this was too soon for both of them.
Geni hadn't mentioned that the pair had become so close - was she even aware? "Marriage? Isn't it a bit soon? You've only known each other a couple of months." He really needed to speak to Teene before he gave his assent, if this was what she wanted, then he would be more than willing to give his approval.
"Yes, but I am quite sure she is the one I want." Arador nodded, smiling.
"She's quite a woman, Teene. I'd be a very happy man if I could have her in my life as my wife."
"That's all well and good." Causton allowed the man a smile. "But before I give my approval - on behalf of her father, you understand - I need to ascertain this is also Teene's wish. You've discussed the matter?" he asked.
"Well, not exactly." Arador admitted, looking rather chagrined. "To be honest, I wanted to get permission before I asked her. I thought it was best to do things that way. So...do I have permission to ask her?"
"Yes, you can ask her, but I want to hear from her before we formalise anything." Causton nodded cautiously. "I'd like to make sure she is as certain as you about things. Of course, I can arrange for her father to come, if you would like to speak to him personally?" Causton offered.
"In this situation, I feel your permission is good enough." Arador smiled and straightened. "I have a special night planned. Will you not say anything to her until I can ask her? I would like it to be a surprise."
"I'll keep it to myself, but once she has given you her answer, I would like to speak with her in private." Causton agreed. He couldn't fault the man for doing the right thing. Causton well remembered approaching Geni's father to ask for his daughters hand, so approaching the Hallmaster wouldn't be any less nerveracking, he should imagine. "I appreciate your coming to see me first. You know, I think of Teene as a younger sister as well as my childrens foster mother, don't you?"
"Yes, I understand. I wouldn't have felt right going behind your back."
Arador grinned and then stood, holding his hand out. "Thank you for giving me permission to pursue her. If you'll excuse me, I'm afraid my time is rather limited."
"Good luck." Causton stood and clasped the mans hand between his own. "I look forward to hearing her reply."
"As do I." Arador was confident it would be a positive one.
