Physical Description of Persona:
Causton stands tall at six foot four inches, with wide shoulders and broad chest to match. He has thick dark hair, almost black with a few now greying hairs at the temples. His dark blue eyes are almost black around the pupils, making his gaze appear threatening. A long, aquiline nose, and wide mouth are accentuated by his full lips.

He walks with a rolling gait more usual to a seaman, but it comes from turns of hefting barrels of wine back and forth in the winery.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Where work is concerned, Causton is a serious man. He takes his craft and his position seriously - always has. But for those who see the personal side, he is fun loving and gentle - despite his size and appearance.

History of Persona:
Born the son of two Vintner craft folk, he could have been thought to have wine running through his veins and not the blood of other crafters. The majority of his family remain in the Vintner craft, with the odd one here and there Impressing or crafting elsewhere. His family can count back through generations of Vintners, and have some of the wines to prove it. His parents hoarding some of the better vintages for special occasions.

Specialising in the distillation of various fruits, his popularity amongst the Holders was renowned. Many a holder across the top end of the continent remembers their first taste of one of Causton's concoctions. And many a holders wife rues the day their husband crossed paths with the vintner.

Wanting to experience all that Pern had to offer a newly ranked journeyman, Causton spent many turns being posted from one Hold to another, from close knit communities to the far flung areas showing those who needed to know, the special vagaries of being a Vintner and producing wines and spirits for all to enjoy. He only returned to the Hall proper to continue his studies to attain higher rank.

Returning to the Vintner Hall to farewell his grandsire; Causton met and quickly fell for Geni a journeywoman healer who was visiting relatives at the Hall. He made no bones about the fact he found her attractive and wanted her for his wife, but Geni wanted to be certain this wasn't a passing fancy and made him wait a full Turn before accepting his proposal. Over the course of the Turn he was posted to Far Sight Hold in the western ranges, correspondence flew between the pair, thanks to Geni's bronze flit.

He petitioned the Hallmaster to allow him to return to the Hall, and was granted a position on the teaching staff enabling him to pursue Geni in earnest and within six months of his return they were married. Due to her determination to continue to craft, he was eventually posted back to the Western ranges and Geni was forced to follow - this is where they have spent the majority of their married life. Geni's crafting became a non-issue over the turns as she became a dedicated mother - but she still gives advice and help when needed, and plans to resume her craft when the children are older.

Causton made Master rank shortly after his fortieth birthingday. Though he specialised in distillation, he still favoured the making of fine wines which has been his families craft for so many generations. On attaining his Mastery his father, Tolemien, presented Causton with four of the last bottles of his families horde of hundred turn old wine. The fifth bottle was cracked open and the family celebrated another Master added to the family tree.

His latest assignment as Hallmaster of the Amber Hills Vintner Hall came as a surprise to Causton and his family and once more they find themselves having to ride a wave of local opposition to his wife and her crafting - as well as suspicion over Causton's sudden appearance and the disappearance of the Hall's previous Hallmaster.
