"Good to see you up and about!" There was a smile on the Hallsecond's face as she watched the former Hallmaster in the water with a few of the Dolphins. "The healers let you out then?"
"Of course!" Mosler tossed a ring out and watched two dolphins race to see who could rescue it first. "This is therapy you know. What brings you out this way?"
"I fancied the walk, and I'm sneaking out away from the Turn's end preparations." Thanja sat on the side of the dock, and slipped her sandals off, dangling her feet in the water.
He patted the water gently, "You're welcome to join us."
"I haven't got my suit with me." There was a note of genuine regret in the words, a swim would be nice. "Perhaps I can still play ball or something with them though."
Her undergarments would have worked fine, the female dolphineers wore less, but he didn't mention it, she was a lady. "On the bench." he pointed to where the more rings sat, then took the one he'd originally thrown off the nose of the winning dolphin. He gave him a quick scratch under the chin and then tossed it out again.
It was the work of mere moments to stand and fetch the rings. "Do I just toss them in?" the Hallsecond asked as she took her seat again.
"Just catch one of their attention first. They get distracted easy and if they wander off, we'll be the ones fishing them out." he explained.
"Well what are their names?"
"Oh let's see." Mosler looked out before him, "That ones Calla, she's my partner. That one there is her grown calf Alti. The two after the ring I just tossed are Kibb, one of our journeywoman's partners, and Lott a rogue male."
Thanja nodded. "Calla!" she called as she tossed out a ring. It didn't go as far as the one Mosler had thrown, but still enough of a distance, or so she hoped.
Mosler watched as his partner went after the ring and got it over her nose almost immediately. Many turns of practice had her perfecting this game by now. "So do you have plans for Turn's Beginning?" he asked, unsure as to whether the printer side of the Harper Hall were as busy as the harper side.
"Me personally or the Hall?" she asked. "The Hall, well we are all involved with concert preparation. Programs to print, invitations to design and distribute, things like that."
"I meant you and your family." Mosler said with a chuckle, "We're having a bit of a breakfast celebration that morning on the beach, and you're all welcome to attend."
"That might be nice, I'll ask Kanydrin and see what he says. I wouldn't put it past him to be planning something himself for us."
"We'll save you a spot just in case." he gave an understanding smile. Then turned more somber as he pulled himself up the ladder and sat down on the edge of the dock. "You haven't had any intelligence come your way about the murdered dolphineer a few months back have you?"
"Sadly not. I did ask for word to be put about amongst the traveling Journeyman, but nothing has come back in to us, or not that I've heard at all."
Mosler nodded his head understandingly. "Nothing's come to us either. I'm afraid it's going to be an unsolved injustice."
"With luck it'll resolve itself."
He leaned over and took a ring off of Lott's nose and gave him a patt before tossing it out again. "I hope so, we won't give up looking and listening."
"Did he have family? I can't remember if you told me that or not?"
He nodded, "Yes, but not close. He was a traveling journeyman, spent a lot of time on the ships. That's one reason we're having such a hard time, no one really knows who his contacts were."
"As I said, if anything comes back our way it'll get passed on."
He nodded again, he didn't have much hope, not after so long. He took the ring from Alti this time and gave her a pat on the head too. Then he stood up and tossed the rings back into the crate they'd originally come from. "Care to walk the beach a bit so I can air dry?"
"So long as we can head back in the direction of the Hall, I should get back to helping with the plans."
"I'll let you lead then." he offered with a smile, waving her on before him.
