"There you are, I missed you." Sorsha said with a grin as Railen finally walked through the door to their room. "So how'd it go?" "It went..as well as anything like that could, I suppose." Indeed, Railen had been rather nervous when he had approached the Weyrwoman. However, after a few moments of talking to her, he had come to a realization. She was simply a woman. Yes, she rode a gold and held an important title, but that didn't make her any different from anyone else in the long run.
She crawled off the couch and took Railen's hand, giving it a squeeze. "So... are you going to be allowed to Stand?" Part of her hoped that he had been turned down. If neither one of them Impressed, they could eventually go back to Willet Grove.
"Well, yes actually." Railen let a slow smile spread across his face. "I'm wondering if it's because of my sister."
Sorsha laid her head against his chest, trying to be happy for him. "Lenlee being Searched couldn't have hurt. Your age was probably a good factor too." "Yes, I suppose it was." Though would he impress if he wasn't Searched? Why hadn't he been Searched if he was a good candidate for impression? So really his standing could be pointless. "Maybe I won't impress, I wasn't Searched after all." He stated softly, his words echoing his thoughts.
She nodded, forcing a smile on her face for Railen's sake. "And maybe you will. Not everyone who Impresses _get_ Searched. If it was a necessity the Weyrwoman wouldn't have allowed you the hope." Railen studied her in silence for a moment before leaning down to kiss her tenderly. "Something's bothering you." He could tell despite how hard she tried to hide it.
"Nope, nothing's bothering me." Sorsha brushed him off. She didn't want him to feel bad about wanting to Stand. "I waited to eat with you, do you want to head down to the dining cavern?" Railen thought about pressing her, but decided not to. Maybe if he still felt like she was bothered with something, he would bring it up again. "Sure, I am rather hungry."
Sorsha got up on her toes to give him another quick kiss. "Good, I've got to get to bed early tonight, I got kitchen duty in the morning before classes. I guess you've got candidate classes now too don't you? It'll be fun to get to do them together." "At least I'll have you to help me in case I get lost." Railen grinned as he took her hand and squeezed it. "Help me get settled in and all."
"It's all pretty basic," she assured him, "Candidates are going to be coming in till the day of the hatching so they kind of rehash stuff periodically." "I guess I have nothing to worry about then." He didn't think the candidate classes would be _too_ hard. "And I'll be apprenticing to the beastcraft."
Sorsha nodded, they'd talked about that too. She knew he was hoping that his experience at Willet Grove would if not push him over into journeyman rank, then get him close to it. "You're going to wait until after this hatching though right?" "Well, I'm going to at least start working in the stables." Railen shrugged. He supposed it made sense to wait. After all, if he did happen to impress, he'd be too busy to apprentice. "But yeah, officially I'll probably wait until after the hatching."
"We'll have to go riding once you get settled in." Sorsha said as she walked out of their little room together. "I miss it, you know?" "It's something we can do together, our special time. We should always make time for just the two of us." Or three or four of them should one or both of them impress. "Our special thing to do together."
Sorsha leaned against him as they walked and took comfort in the arm he put around her. "I'd like that."
