Free time. Glorious free time! It was only an hour, but Meledei was going to make the most of it by not doing anything. She flopped down on a couch right next to F'gol and threw an arm over her eyes. "Wake me when it's time to graduate."

"Only if you wake me first." He hadn't moved a muscle since he'd collapsed on the couch, and while Meledei was near to crushing him, it wasn't enough to make him readjust where he lay.

"No, I think you should be the first one to awaken. That means an extra minute of sleep for me." Meledei grinned and turned her head to regard the young man who had quickly become her friend. "But make sure you bring me something to eat first so it will be ready when I do wake."

F'gol grunted, "How can I bring you food when you're using me for a pillow?"

"I suppose you're right." Meledei turned so that she was perpendicular to the bluerider, her head fully on his stomach instead of upon his shoulder. "You do make a good pillow though. Nice and soft, just how I like it."

"I'm glad you approve." F'gol mused, "But if you don't quit moving around I'm going to push you to the floor where you can squirm all you want."

"I'm not going to move again." The goldrider promised. "I'm quite comfortable now." Meledei closed her eyes and sighed with content. It was nice to have some freetime. They didn't get a lot of it, but she appreciated it all the more when she did. "Think you're getting the hang of things now?"

F'gol gave a bark of laughter. "Of which things are you referring to?" The last sevenday had been a blur and he'd just barely been holding on to his semblance of sanity. What he really wish for a an entire day of just nothing so he could catch his breath.

"Everything. Do you have any questions? I said I'd help you, but you haven't come to me with anything." Meledei laced her hands over her stomach and stared up at the bluerider. "I just want to make sure you're doing okay with stuff."

"You see me stumble all the time, how can I ask you for help when you're always holding my hand?" F'gol opened one eye and peered over at the girl, "Not that I mind. I'm like a blind man. You've all got a theoretical knowledge of everything because of candidate classes. Alot of this stuff is completely new to me."

"I know." Meledei offered F'gol a sympathetic smile. It had been so unexpected by everyone, but mostly by himself. "If you want me to stop holding your hand, I will."

F'gol closed his eyes again. No chance for a quick nap now, but it was still restful. "Tired of me? I'd be okay if you were, I don't want to annoy you."

"No way, you don't annoy me at all." Meledei reached up and gave a playful flick upon F'gol's chin. "If anything, I'm probably annoying you. After all, I am a know it all." The weyrlings had been whispering and thought she hadn't heard, but Meledei had. It had stung her more than she thought it should.

"I like know it alls." He was about to say more, but his stomach decided to growl loudly. "Looks like it's time to feed Tealth. I know we're supposed to be able to differentiate between our feelings and everything, but I'm always just so hungry and it's _got_ to be because of him."

"Yes. But in time, we'll get used to it." Meledei really didn't want to move, but she knew she had to. Elleth was stirring and as soon as the dragon was fully away, she would be demanding food herself. "All right, let's get going. We don't want to make them wait." She heaved herself to her feet, then offered F'gol a hand up.

As he took her hand, he thought about pulling her back down onto the couch. Surely another minute or two wouldn't have hurt; but she was right they shouldn't make them wait, they had responsibilities, and that came before rest. Up on his feet F'gol waved her forward, "After you."

"Yes sir!" Meledei grinned and headed out. Their time of rest was short, but they weren't going to neglect their lifemates. The dragons came first, after all!
