Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 1, day 5 of Turn 5
Talmina groaned slightly as an involuntary yawn pulled at her bandages.
The pain was minimal though, her face was numbed and she was on
enough fellis that she was only semi conscious. It took great effort
to focus on what people were saying and doing to her, so she mostly
just laid there and allowed her mother to manage things. If she
focused too much, she remembered things she didn't want to remember.
"Talmina?" Zanen asked softly. "My name is Zanen. I work here at the Hold."
Morina looked up from her perch at the tracker, then shifted her
attention to her daughter. She was still in so much pain, though the
healers assured her there was nothing unusual. That didn't really
make _her_ feel any better. "Talmina...Zanen wants to talk to you for
a little while." The woman whispered.
The girl's eyes fluttered open and she saw her mother standing next to
a man she didn't recognize. She gave a single nod but didn't move to
reach for the chalk board she'd been using when she needed to talk.
"Talmina, we're going to find whoever did this to you." Shards, the
poor girl. Zanen almost wished he could find the culprit with no one
else around. He'd teach him a hard lesson. "But we need you to help
us."
Help them find him? Yes, she would help. He'd attacked her and
ruined her pretty face, ruined her whole life. She'd help them find
him... and then he'd lose _his_ life. She lifted up a heavy arm and
pulled the board onto her bed.
Morina leaned forward to help her daughter manager the board. It
pained her to see her child in such condition. How could this have
happened? Why her lovely Talmina? Every time she thought about it too
long, Morina wanted to cry. She desperately pushed away the thoughts
and focused on aiding her daughter so she could communicate with
Zanen. Talmina wasn't the only one who wanted that man caught!
"Do you remember what he looked like?" Zanen asked.
Her eyes dropped, it was so hard to think, but she forced them open
and focused on making her fingers and arm write out "Syfer".
"Syfer? That's his name?" Zanen asked.
Talmina gave a rolling nod, her head was heavier than she'd thought,
and wrote out "Liar."
"He lied to you? Tricked you to get away from others?" Zanen guessed.
She gave an involuntary shudder and felt tears fill her eyes as broken
memories of him pulling her into the garden sprang to mind. She
needed to get this over with, she didn't want to remember anymore, she
just wanted to sleep. With as much quickness as she could muster, she
focused on the board and wrote out, "Tall Plain Dark Long Hair
Holder."
Zanen took out a scrap of hide and wrote down her description, along
with the name. "Thank you, lass. I know this is hard for you."
Morina reached over and tenderly swept some hair from her daughter's
forehead. Then she looked up to the tracker, "Thank you Zanen. We
appreciate any and all help."
He nodded. "I'll do my best, ma'am."
