Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 26 of Turn 5
Jadorin thanked the bluerider again for the ride, his body still
recovering from the cold of /between/. In his arms he held a number
of finished commissions from the Hold to be delivered, as well as a
wineskin filled with now-chilled white wine. "Are you ok?" he asked
Lymria, hoping the trip had not scared her.
"Yes, chilled though," Lymria replied, trying to rub some warmth back
to her hands and cheeks.
Jadorin was tempted to rub her arms for her, but that would probably
be inappropriate. Although, they were at the Weyr now...He shook his
head slightly to clear away the thought. He did not want to remember
his months spent at the Weyr Turns ago. "Do you want to warm up
inside, or on the beach? I need to drop these," he gestured to the
items in his arms, "off, but I can meet you as soon as I'm done."
"Inside. I could use some hot klah," Lymria said. Her eyes still shone
from the excitement of the dragon flight. "Do you realize that was my
first time on dragon back?"
"Oh!" He almost hit himself in the head for not asking earlier. He
was such a dimglow sometimes. However, he had assumed that her having
been around dragons before meant she had ridden on one. "I didn't
realize. Was the trip /between/ ok?" She didn't seem scared, but
maybe she was hiding it well.
"It was exhilarating. Like riding fast on a narrow mountain road. Good
thing I'm not frightened by heights," Lymria said. Even the /between/
hadn't been that bad, although she had kept her eyes closed tightly.
Jadorin smiled at the image she described. "Yes, good thing. And you
can take your second trip this afternoon, when we return to the Hold."
He began leading her towards the dining cavern.
"Thank you, Jadorin, for taking me with you," Lymria thanked from the
bottom of her heart.
"Of course! Without you, this would just be a short business trip.
And, I wouldn't have brought this," he gestured to the wineskin. "I
always like spending time with you," he admitted.
"I enjoy your company too," Lymria said.
He grinned. It was a wonderful feeling to have a friend. "Get ready
to be overwhelmed," he warned soon after, as they arrived at the
entrance to the dining cavern. The dining hall at the Hold was big,
but everything at the Weyr had been built on a larger scale. "Or,
have you eaten at a Weyr before?"
"No. The caravan camped outside and we ate in our own company. At
least we did during the Intervall. I'm not sure what they do now, with
the Thread falling. When this Pass begun, I had already moved to live
in a hold," Lymria replied and told him. "We saw dragons and met the
riders when they came to shop from our stalls, but the womanfolk were
rarely allowed inside the weyr," she continued.
"Well, you're inside now," he said with a smile. The dining cavern
was fairly empty, as it was between meals. The lack of people served
to make the space look even larger. "Do you want anything besides
klah?" He did not have a hand free to pour it for her, but he
gestured with his arm to where food and drinks were.
"No, klah will be enough," Lymria said and went to pour herself a mug.
"Do you want anything?"
"Not now." He would have some wine later. "Do you mind waiting here
while I drop these finished commissions off? I shouldn't take more
than a quarter candlemark."
"I'll be fine," Lymria assured him with a nod.
"All right." Jadorin placed the wineskin by the seat Lymria had
chosen and then went back towards the Weyr bowl. When he had almost
arrived at the entrance, a wave of lust hit him and he stopped in
shock, looking to his left as though someone in the cavern was the
source of his feelings. Someone looked towards him and their eyes
met. The man winked and smiled. Jadorin blushed and walked quickly
out of the cavern, trying to shake the lust away. A green must be
rising. Hopefully he would be under control by the time he returned
to Lymria. He did not want to risk eyeing a man while he was supposed
to be spending time with a female friend. **Concentrate, concentrate**
he told himself, looking down so he would not make eye contact with
anyone else.
