W'lerin's dark eyes focused intensely on his brown, confidant that this exercise would be easy for his sturdy dragonet.

}: I could do far more than this. I am strong and well balanced. :{ Vreikeinyth told W'lerin with a touch of arrogance.

**Of course you could, dear one, but they do not divide the class into abilities so we must do as we are instructed. Any deviation could land us in trouble and that could keep us from flying together as soon as we would like. Focus on the task at hand.**

Meanwhile Afkica was having to exercise a great deal of control as Shralyth was as keen on _doing_ as her rider. **You don't want to be in trouble with that handsome brown, do you now? That would be mortifying. Do as he says and no more.** Afkica's tone was as firm as ever it had been. The large green listened and acquiesced, paying attention to the instructions on keeping level and using all of her feet.

**Wait Elleth.** Meledei fairly commanded as the gold eased on her haunches. The dragonet groaned then reached out to nuzzle her rider.
**Patience, love, you'll get your turn.**

"Eager, isn't she?" Ri'len noted to Sorsha as he grinned at her lifemate. Monilath sat perfectly still, more like a statue than a living creature, perhaps the most patient dragonet of them all.

Shalith waited impatiently, but she watched Winigeth carefully. She wanted to make sure she did it right. When Winigeth finished his demonstration and gave the okay, Shalith made a little hop. }:I jumped!:{

Cosani bit her lip against a laugh. **Yes, you did.** And she had looked so .. so .. _cute_ when she did it.

With a mental sigh, Sarath gathered all her dignity and carefully arranged her forelimbs in the correct position, and with a moment's consideration - boing! - she sprung a little way into the air. Her wings twitched slightly as she landed back on her hind legs, but she managed to keep them folded and still correct for overbalancing slightly.

**You did it!** encouraged K'sen.

}: It will be much easier when I am allowed to use my wings to balance, :{ she insisted in an imperious tone.

}:You must learn balance on your own little one.:{ Winigeth informed her and the others as he watched them. }: We will use your new wings soon enough.:{

Tealth took a little jump, then another, then decided that it wasn't hard at all and took a larger one. F'gol watched with a grin plastered on his face, forgetting he was supposed to be controlling his lifemate. When Tealth jumped again, he over estimated his angle and landed too far forward, plowing his face into the ground. F'gol jumped up to offer his support, but Tealth had righted himself already and was already jumping again, this time a bit more carefully.

Monilath crouched down to take jump then seemed to think better of it. He straightened out, looked around, then crouched a second time. He finally did jump, taking a small one, then a slightly larger one. When he felt comfortable with that, he began to extend the distance and finally was taking leaps that were pretty good sized for such a young dragonet.

}: My wings aren't that new, :{ complained Sarath with a slight note of confusion. }: I've always had them. They're part of me. I think I know how to use them to balance. :{

K'sen thought about interjecting, but other than shushing his dragon or trying to persuade her to think she didn't always know best, both of which were generally a lost cause with Sarath, he wasn't sure how to do so usefully.

Elleth was so enthusiastic that she tried a giant leap at the very first and wound up tumbling over her head. She rolled onto her back and lay there with her legs waving in the air as she gathered her wits about her. Then she rolled to her side, pushed herself up and tried to take a second giant leap. She didn't take quite as bad a tumble but she still managed to fall into her side. The tip of her tail twitched like a feline's, side to side in irritation.

**Are you hurt?** Meledei asked as she hurried over her to her lifemate then relaxed when the gold assured her that she was unharmed.
**Take smaller jumps.** The weyrling encouraged.

The gold sneezed as she drew herself up once more and did as her lifemate bid. She took a leap about half as big as her first attempts. That time she stumbled but did not fall over.

Seeing her clutchmates take more jumps, Shalith did the same. On her second attempt, she came down with a little wobble and she started to flex her wings before she remembered she wasn't supposed to use them. She shifted her legs and forearms and stayed up, well pleased with herself.

**You are the best dragon ever hatched,** Cosani assured her.
