Description: The dragonets jump for the first time.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 8 of Turn 5
N'reg couldn't help but grin as he watched the young dragons attempt their jumps, he loved volunteering to help with the little ones. "See Elleth there, how she rolled right out of her fall? If she'd had her wings out she could have gotten tangled in them and injured herself. That's why we take it slow. They'll master their jumps in next to no time, don't worry."
}: Well, *I'm* not too big for my feet, :{ declared Sarath peevishly when K'sen seemed to be agreeing with N'reg's explanation, but she settled down and kept her wings tucked in.
Shralyth teetered precariously with each little jump she attempted, nearly rolling over each time.
**You are doing just fine, luv** Afkica encouraged, **Small little jumps and you'll find your balance**
}: It looked much easier than it really is.:{
**Yes but you'll get it. Ah, see there, hardly a wobble on that one.**
In spite of his bulk, Vreikeinyth, was well balanced in his jumps and his rider expressed his pride in the brown. **You are doing very well. Better than any of the others.** In truth, W'lerin's attention had been so focused on his lifemate, he could not have made an honest judgement.
}:Hmm, this takes concentration,:{ Shalith obseved. }:But it's fun:{ She continued making small jumps, with a few larger ones here and there.
After a few moments of jumping, Monilath was doing quite well. There were a couple of times when Ri'len caught his dragon trying to stretch out his wings without really thinking and the young man had to tell the bronze to hold them closer to his body. The bronze did not argue but continued to make the jumps larger until he was simply limited by his size.
Elleth was doing better as well. Her stumbling became less and she was getting more bold in her attempts, that time with better practise.
**You're doing great.** Meledei clapped her hands together and laughed at her dragon's antics, the crouching down, the wiggling of her rump, then the sudden take off. The landing was always punctuated with a twitch of the tail and another wiggle from her backside.
Sorsha cringed as Roseth almost toppled over after a rather large jump. After that, the green took smaller more controlled jumps and Sorsha started to relax, giggling even as the young beauty took several short hops in a row. She looked almost like a bouncing ball and dispite how she was complaining, Sorsha knew Roseth was enjoying herself.
}:I am very good at this. :{ Tealth informed F'gol after making a large leap and landing easily on all four legs. }:I can jump as far as all the other ones.:{
F'gol knew he was referring to the bronzes and browns and wondered briefly if his blue was overdoing it. Still, he _was_ very good at it, no longer stumbling or swaying as he landed. F'gol was proud of his lifemate.
N'reg watched his group for another few minutes, there were a few that were still having balance issues, but they were improving and would continue to do so over time. "Wonderful work today. You all did so very well. We're going to stop for today, you don't want to tire yourselves out, and tomorrow we'll get those wings out."
R'min was glad for the order to stop. Tahgirath had been enjoying himself with the jumps, but he'd been clumsy and had fallen multiple times. While he knew his blue wasn't hurt, it bothered him emotionally every time he saw the blue fall.
}: Excellent. It will be much better tomorrow, :{ declared Sarath, taking a delicate step away from her group and shaking her wings out.
}:It will be much easier to balance with my wings,:{ Shalith said, moving to join her rider.
}:I am glad to be done for the day.:{ Shralyth informed Afkica as she stretched her wings. She had improved, but still found the exercise rather challenging.
}:I don't want to stop.:{ Elleth stated as she took another jump.
**It's time to stop.** Meledei said firmly and moved over to her dragon's side. **But we can do this again tomorrow, with your wings!**
}:Why not today?:{
**You don't want to overtire, my darling.** Meledei encircled her dragon's neck with her arms and hugged her tight.
**You'll do even better tomorrow.** Cosani said as she hugged her dragon's neck. Before long, the little dragonets would be flying, and after that, she and Shalith would fly together for the first time
}:We will fly better than anyone,:{ Shalith assured her.
**You did very well.** Ri'len praised his lifemate as he let his hands run over the dragon's head and to his eyeridges.
}:I knew I would.:{ There was no boasting in Monilath's statement, it was simply an indication of his confidence.
**Time to rest.** Ri'len urged the bronze over to where Sorsha and Roseth stood. Things were progressing. Sometimes it seemed as if they would never get out of weyrlinghood, but their first jumps brought home the fact that time was passing and one of their many milestones had been reached.
