"I'm glad I'm not the only one being punished this morning." F'gol grumbled by way of greeting to E'ron, who had been assigned a weyr two down from him, as they both traveled to the bathing room at the end of the corridor. T'kob had noticed that F'gol's group was having trouble with their aerial formations and had asked them to meet him for some extra early morning practices. While he'd never had much problem waking up in the morning as some did, it was a little much when you had to bathe and oil a dragon as well as bathe yourself, all before the morning even started to grey.
"I thought we might have a bit of a social life once we got our own weyrs." E'ron's voice was just above a mumble, and his eyes were half open. "It was too much to hope for."
F'gol grunted and held the door open for E'ron to pass though. "Maybe that's T'kob's whole plan. We can't get into any trouble if we're too exhausted to do anything other than sleep... or not sleep."
"Honestly, right now I would trade a social life for sleep." He stepped past F'gol into the bathing room. "How are we supposed to get better at aerial formations when we're exhausted?"
He closed the door behind them and disrobed as fast his tired limbs would let him. "Didn't old Ru'nel say we'd practice the formations so much we'd be able to do them in our sleep?"
"I didn't think he meant that literally." E'ron pulled off his robe and dropped it where it would be safe from splashing. He slipped into the warm water and sighed. "Wake me if I fall asleep in here."
F'gol dropped into the water and grabbed at the sweetsand so he could start scrubbing. "I won't be in here that long. Two minutes and I'm out. If I don't get some klah in me before we go I'll fall off Tealth mid flight."
"Klah sounds good." E'ron covered a yawn. He washed silently for a moment before he asked, "Do you think it's because of the ... the ones who went /between/? That they're being so hard on us?"
The young groupleader submerged himself in the warm water. When he came up, he attacked his hair that was growing a bit unruly. "I think they were inevitable. They're probably just looking to not lose anymore than necessary." Neither of the two that had been lost during the first sevenday of /betweening/ had been from his group, but they had another two months of training _and_ blooding to go. He wasn't optimistic that his group would be that lucky.
"Does it make you worry? You know, that it could have been one of us?" Feykenth was sure of his abilities, but E'ron wasn't as confident.
F'gol gave a short nod, though he didn't answer. He didn't like to think about it too closely, especially since he was starting to think of most of his group as friends. Especially E'ron... though he could do without W'lerin, so perhaps he would be the one... "Come on, we'd best get going or we'll be late."
"Right." Pushing his thoughts aside, E'ron dumped sweetsand in his hair and scrubbed. Considering it good enough after a moment, he ducked under the water and ran his hands through his hair to rinse. "Do we still have enough time to eat?"
"Of course." F'gol replied with a snort as he pulled himself up out of the water and grabbed for a towel. "Breakfast is a necessity this early in the morning."
"Good." E'ron jumped out of the pool and turned to get a towel. He was a little more awake now, and a little more aware of naked F'gol. E'ron had been at the Weyr long enough to get used to nudity, especially while bathing, but he didn't want to look at F'gol. It made him ... uncomfortable. "If I had to fly with only klah in my stomach, I think I'd get sick."
F'gol jumped into his pants and quickly pulled his head into his tunic, giving E'ron a grin of understanding. "You wouldn't be the first one. Remember that first day of advanced aerials? With all those rolls we did, I'd never been so dizzy in my whole life."
"I _fell_ on the way to the dining cavern." E'ron pulled on his clothes and bent to put on his socks and boots. "H'vari still teases me about it."
F'gol laughed at the memory of his group's first few minutes back on the ground, they'd looked like they'd been drinking too much of the local wine. "He wasn't any better."
"As he reminds me, he didn't fall over. Or no one _saw_ him fall over." E'ron dropped his towel in the hamper. "C'mon. I think my stomach is waking up."
Grabbing his wet towel, he dropped it in the hamper as well and caught up to his wingmate. "Speaking of H'vari, we'd better make a detour to his weyr. Tealth says his lazy green is still sleeping."
"I can't really blame them."
F'gol grunted, taking the stairs that would lead them to the greenrider's corridor. "I can. If I have to get up, then so does he. I'll be the one that gets yelled at if we all aren't there on time."
E'ron smoothed a hand over his hair, hoping it would dry before he had to put his helmet on. "We'll get him up. It'll be fine."
