Bluerider Talk

Writers: Devin, Cali
Date Posted: 12th September 2009

Characters: F'gol, E'ron
Description: F'gol talks to E'ron about the kiss.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 19 of Turn 5

"E'ron, can I come in?" F'gol knocked on the door again when he got no answer the first time.

E'ron lifted his head from his dragon's side. He didn't want to get up, and he wanted to answer the door even less. Shards, he didn't know what had come over him.

}:I don't know why you are so upset. Humans kiss all the time.:{

**I shouldn't have kissed him. He's ... he's a _boy_. And now he's going to think I like him.** His heart beat a little faster. _Did_ he like F'gol? All those things he'd tried to ignore...

Maybe F'gol would go away.

}: Please make room for me.:{ Tealth said to the other blue as F'gol climbed onto his back and told him where he wanted to go. It was only a few weyrs down so it wouldn't take but a leap and a few wingbeats to turn around before he could land again. With neither one of the blues full size, it was easy for them to both fit on the weyr ledge.

"E'ron, we need to talk." F'gol said, still perched on Tealth's back. He didn't want to just waltz in, but ignoring him was ridiculous since they had to work together in the morning.

No escape now. "I already said I was sorry. I didn't mean to, it just ... happened."

F'gol slid down off of Tealth's back but gave E'ron a wide berth, leaning against the wall across from him. "I accept your apology. You didn't need to run off like that."

"H'vari is going to tell _everyone_," E'ron groaned. He was probably busy doing it already.

"No he's not." F'gol assured him. He didn't know for sure, but the boy was usually more talk than anything. "Not if he knows what's good for him."

"Defending my honor?" he asked with a touch of humor. He sobered and added, "Or yours?"

F'gol leveled his gaze at the other blue rider, he was being overly dramatic about the whole thing. "You can defend your own honor. I just won't have people teasing eachother for stupid reasons. I'll laugh at somebody all day if they fall on their face or puke after doing aerials, but this was different, so I made sure he understood that."

Feykenth shifted to nuzzle his rider as E'ron nodded. "You didn't like it, did you?"

F'gol raised his eyebrows. He hadn't been expecting a question like that. He was really trying to not think of it at all. Still, he supposed they would have to talk about it or it would hover over them, and that wouldn't make for a good working wing. "You didn't taste bad or anything. But you didn't make me swoon either." F'gol tried to be light about it. It wouldn't be the last time he'd be kissed by a boy, he'd probably be doing much more in just a few months.

"I don't know what I was expecting. I'm not sure ... what I want," he admitted as a flush crept up his cheeks.

"You're a blue rider, it's okay to not be certain." F'gol felt like a Sr. apprentice talking things out to one of the new jr. apprentices. He was E'ron's group leader though, it was sort of a similar relationship when he thought about it. He didn't want to be held over E'ron though, they were friends, he wasn't any better. Again he tried to lighten things up by stepping towards E'ron and punching him lightly on the shoulder. "Just ask next time will ya? I don't like being taken by surprise."

E'ron's heart beat double time. "What would you say, if I asked?"

"If you asked," F'gol realized he'd taken his joke the wrong way, "I'd probably make a joke and try and turn the discussion in another direction. Seriously though, if I _had_ to go and figure out that other side of blue riding, you'd be at the top of my list. We're friends after all. We don't have to though now. We've got months before our dragons even start to chase. And who knows, maybe you'll find someone else you'd rather ask by then."

"Okay." He rubbed Feykenth's headknob and wondered if he should say anything more than that.

"Okay." F'gol echoed. It was getting close to curfew, but he didn't want things to end weird between them. When they lined up for drills in the morning, he didn't want H'vari to have any reason to suspect E'ron was having a problem. "So... want to play some cards?"

"Not tonight." He needed space. He wasn't used to rejection.

F'gol nodded, giving up. "I'll see you in the morning then." He wondered if their routine of bathing and breakfast would continue now. He hoped so. While it might be awkward at first, he really didn't feel put out by E'ron's advance, no more than if a girl had kissed him.

"See you." It seemed like he hadn't ruined their friendship. That was something, at least.
