Volunteer Masseuse

Characters: Sorsha, Zelle
Description: Sorsha helps Zelle by giving her legs a massage.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 5, day 1 of Turn 5

Zelle massaged her legs. It made her muscles loosen up and help the soreness that inevitably creeped in after her therapy. Normally a healer would help her (thanks to K'hetah's suggestion), but the infirmary was quite busy as it seemed a lot of people had come in all at once and the healers were needed elsewhere. She had fallen asleep, partially with the aid of some fellis, with nothing else to do. Her legs were sore when she had awoken, so she had set about massaging them, helping to ease the soreness out of them.

"Afternoon Zelle," Sorsha said as she came over with some warmed towels. "Want some help?" she asked as she offered the towels.

"That depends." Zelle took one of the towels and wrapped it around her foreleg. "You any good at giving massages?"

Sorsha shrugged, she'd not had healer training at it, but she'd given a few leg rubs here and there. "Good enough probably."

"Would you be willing?" Zelle motioned to her legs, stiff from the movement earlier and a bit sore. A massage would do them good.

She picked up another of the warm towels and wrapped it around the leg she wasn't going to attend to first. Then she settled down next to Zelle and started working on the leg. "What'd you do that got them so sore?"

"I've been trying to get my body back into gear." Zelle explained as she leaned back a bit and sighed. "Trying to get my body back to the point where it can walk normally again."

"Looks like you're pushing yourself too hard." Sorsha made the observation, her tone not admonishing nor pitying.

"Not really." Zelle would have agreed in certain instances, but she had listened to K'hetah. "I've been told it's normal and to work through the pain or I won't make progress. So I do."

Sorsha just nodded as she continued to massage. Working in the infirmary had certainly opened her eyes to the dangers of dragonriding. Zelle, a greenrider like herself, was a perfect example of why she had to study and practice, and always stay vigilant. "How's that feel?"

"Wonderful." Zelle's tone was almost a purr and she leaned back. "I might need to get you to come in and be my private masseuse."

She smiled and continued on. After a few minutes she reached for the slightly less warm towels and wrapped her leg in them before focusing her attentions on the other one. That was was already relaxed because of the heat, and she found it easier to kneed the sore muscles. "And this one?"

"Yeah." Zelle leaned back and put her arms behind her head. "I'm going to fall asleep at this rate." She opened one eye and peered down at the weyrling. "I hope I'm not causing any trouble for you."

Sorsha shook her head. "No, I'm here for another twenty minutes or so, just trying to help out where I can."

"Well I'm not complaining." Zelle glanced toward the door when she saw movement, but it had merely been a healer passing on the way to another patient. "And I could use the company. I'm waiting for a visitor, but he's not here yet."

"Oh?" Did she detect something in her tone? "A special visitor?"

"Well..." She wished, but K'hetah never thought of himself as anything but a friend. Especially not toward Zelle. "A friend."

Sorsha smiled, accepting her explanation. "I'll stay until your friend arrives then."
