"I can't believe I was so stupid!" F'gol growled as he was escorted by E'ron away from the newly flaming dragons and towards the infirmary. He and Tealth had been doing so well, the blue's flames had been getting fuller and more prolonged all morning, but the two had become distracted and F'gol had ended up getting half his hair singed as well as what he was sure were several blisters on the side of his face.

"Let's just get you to the infirmary so you can get some numbweed on that," E'ron said. The wound looked _painful_.

F'gol sighed, the tone of E'ron's voice made him realize that it was probably worse than he felt at the moment. "Do I have _any_ hair left?"

"On this side." E'ron pointed. If F'gol wasn't so hurt, the state of his hair might be funny.

"I was going to cut it anyways." F'gol tried to act like it didn't bother him, but he was embarrassed. He didn't like people making a fuss over him.

"Next time don't have Tealth cut it for you." E'ron bit his lip against a laugh. They were almost at the infirmary.

F'gol was starting to feel a tingle on his scalp which was probably the feeling returning. He didn't like it. "We were doing well before though. You and Feykenth too. I think our group was picking it up the fastest."

"We have a good leader." Maybe it was flattery, but it was also true.

"I don't think I have anything to do with it." F'gol replied, though he was pleased that E'ron attempted the compliment. "I'm the one that can't remember to duck. You all were smarter."

"I think you'll remember next time." They reached the front desk.

A journeyman saw them come into the infirmary and gave a little _tsk tsk_ as he recognized what had happened to the boy. "There's one in every group." He pointed to the nearest empty exam bed and watched as the two weyrlings made their way over.

"Anyone else coming?" Sometimes the dragonets got scared or excited and swung their heads around, catching several off guard.

"No, just F'gol." E'ron followed his group leader to the empty cot.

The healer nodded as he started his examination. "Well, you're lucky. Another fingers length and you could have lost the eye. As it is, you'll have some blisters and maybe a bit of scarring."

F'gol gave a crooked smile to E'ron. "Guess today's my lucky day then."

"Hmm, yes, just give me a moment to flush the wound and apply some salve and you can go. I wouldn't want you to miss the part of class where they teach you to duck." the healer added humorlessly. All the weyrlings always thought they were indestructible.

He could have lost his eye? E'ron squeezed his friend's shoulder. "We'll all be more careful."
