Description: F'gol asks Meledei to 'practice' with him.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 26 of Turn 5
"So..." F'gol started, deciding for awhile now that the best thing to do was to just spit it out and see where Meledei stood on the matter. "Do you want to have sex with me?"
"Huh?" The question wasn't anything she expected here, especially not from F'gol. Meledei stared at the bluerider, dumbstruck.
F'gol swallowed hard then continued on, "Well, you heard T'kob, our dragons will start to chase and rise in the next few months and it would go better if we knew what we were doing. Safer for the dragons and all that." He'd envisioned three possible responses from her, the first and most likely being a slap across the face (and that's why he stood a fair distance away from her), the second being acceptance (which is what he hoped for), and the third being rejection due to the fact that she'd already gotten practice from someone else (he'd much prefer the slap in that case).
That was very true and Meledei knew that she was supposed to 'practice' so to speak. But that idea just seemed so...cold. Sex held a lot more for her than it did for most weyrbred - to the point some even thought her holdbred because of it. The girl shifted as she pondered the question, then answered it with one of her own. "Do you want to have sex with me then?"
"I wouldn't be asking if I didn't." The question threw him off, he would have thought it would be a given. Who _wouldn't_ want to, she was beautiful.
Meledei smiled a little. Well, that was true, but she was seeking more than that simple answer. "Why?"
F'gol hadn't been expecting an interrogation, but then again, this was Meledei so maybe he should have. "You can just say no, it's not a big deal." he said, trying to play it off like it didn't matter to him either way. Underneath that though he could feel his stomach tightening. He didn't want some sort of random encounter, he'd transcribed too many harper romances, and he hadn't wanted to think about his other options if she blew him off. He _wanted_ her to say yes.
"I'm not saying no." The words came out slowly and Meledei lowered her gaze. He didn't have any idea, did he? Did he suspect? Or was there a chance that he might like her in the same way? Meledei was afraid to put too much hope into the suggestion. "I just want to know why me."
He gave a wide grin and closed the distance between them now that he knew he wasn't going to get slapped. "Because you're the best. You're my best friend and you're beautiful and I'm comfortable with you. I'm also hoping that you won't make fun of me for not knowing what I'm doing since you know I'm a quick learner and I bet with practice I could be pretty good..."
"Then we'll be learning together." Meledei lifted her gaze and gave him a small smile. "But only on one condition."
"Anything." He assured her. Learning together... that meant that she hadn't been with anyone else didn't it?
"Promise me you'll teach me to play the gitar." Meledei had a passing knowledge, but the most she could do was pick out a few chords, nothing near to playing it, "And we can make music together."
F'gol groaned, feeling like he'd just fallen into some sort of trap. "Now why does one have anything to do with the other? I've told you I don't do any harpering anymore." It hurt too much.
"Just because you aren't officially a harper doesn't mean you can't write, sing, or teach me how to play." Meledei pointed out. Shards, she wished he would just agree to it. "This wouldn't be official, just something between us. I want to learn and I'd rather learn from you. And besides, you did say anything."
"You should really learn from a journeyman, I've never taught anyone before." It was a lame excuse he knew, but he didn't want to say yes and at the same time he didn't want to say no and then have her get mad and change her mind about practicing with him.
"There's a lot of things we've never done before, but if we didn't try, we'd never do anything."
"Fine," He said, annoyed to be bickering about playing the gitar when it took them off the subject that he'd been working himself up for. "So... about us practicing..."
"We can try tomorrow." Meledei suggested as she did her best to hide a feeling of triumph. "The day after that is a rest day and that means we won't have to be up too early in the morning - give us more time."
F'gol nodded, "Good idea, we might need to practice then too. Your place or mine?"
"Whichever you prefer." Meledei honestly didn't have a presence. She tried to be nonchalant about it, but she had to admit, she was looking forward to this type of practicing. "I'm fine with either."
He didn't have to think about it, "Yours then. It's bigger." That way there was room for both dragons to be on the ledge in case they needed them. Tealth didn't seem too concerned about the whole thing when they'd talked it over, but then again, neither of them had any actual idea of what it would be like so there was no way to know for sure.
"Okay." They were going to do it. Meledei couldn't stop the grin. "My place it is, tomorrow."
