Characters: Hygalia, T'mahl
Description: T'mahl greets a new, very important arrival to Dragonsfall.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 9, day 22 of Turn 5

They came out of /between/ smoothly, eagerness in Genith's wingbeats
as she circled the rim of Dragonsfall Weyr, enjoying the view.
Snow coated some of the rim yet, and the surrounding countryside. It
was quite lovely, she thought, if not like her long distant home Hold of
Copper Beach.

But she had left Copper Beach turns ago, following an
adventure that had led her here, to Dragonsfall Weyr, young but very
experienced, to fill the spot left open by Kapera, who's inability to
adjustto this climate had caused her to need a change of scenery. .
Both Genith and her rider rather liked the crisp, cold clarity of the
air and after a few more circles landed gracefully in the bowl.

}:I will like it here.:{ was all Genith offered, but her rider knew
that in her own calm way, she was declaring this place 'hers'.

The circles had given the dragons around the Weyr plenty of warning, and
the gold dragon could only be one person. No doubt the current
Weyrleader, T'mahl, would have been told by his bronze that they had
arrived.

In fact, as Hygalia dismounted with the ease of long practice from
Genith, she could make out a not unattractive man approaching with easy,
confident strides. Turns of training and practice showed as Hygalia
moved forward to meet him, almost portraying the idea that _he_ was
coming to see _her_, not the other way around. A charming smile curved
her face, lending her a look of mixed grace and charm, with a hint of
mischief in the eyes.

"Welcome, Lady Hygalia," T'mahl said with a deep bow as he
greeted his new Weyrwoman. "I'm sad that we meet under these
circumstances, but you are most welcome to our Weyr."

Hygalia extended her hands to him, and nodded in agreement. "Things
like this are never a good reason for taking over as Senior Weyrwoman,
though I have to say Genith and I are quite ready for the work and the
challenge." She smiled at him. Of course, Genith would have to be the
next to Rise, but she was due to Rise soon anyway, and at this stage it
was more of a formality.

A glance up to the rim showed the medium sized gold taking a place of
status in the center of ever-curious bronzes and browns, paying court to
her. Hygalia's smile widened.

"Indeed, it seems as if we already feel at home here. Care to give me
a tour, Weyrleader, or would you rather I bother someone else?" She
knew he would want to talk to her, and she thought a tour would give the
man a chance to stretch his legs and relax a bit. If the Weyrleader of
her home Weyr was any judge, then T'mahl probably never _relaxed_.

"Ah. Yes. I can do that. I'm sure you would like a chance to get
warm, so why don't we save the outside for another time." The last
thing he needed was for another Weyrwoman to fall victim to their harsh
climate!

That was thoughtful. She was still wearing her wherhide flying jacket,
but she knew the longer they stood outside, the colder she would get.
"That sounds lovely." She extended her arm to him and immediately began
asking questions. "The other golds here are young yet, right? So we
will want some large clutches from my Genith, right?" Her eyes lighted
as she considered that in particular. Would this man _stay_ the
Weyrleader when her gold Rose, as she soon would?
"They are young," he nodded, though not going so far as to put pressure
on her to produce just yet. She had just arrived, after all. "It will
be nice to have a rider with your experience. Teseada is a very capable
young goldrider, but she still has a lot to learn. She could benefit
from a patient teacher."

Hygalia smiled at that, the simple motion giving her face character.
"Faranth knows I've had my share of patient teachers. I'll be happy to
help." She was about to ask more questions, but a loud "MROOOW!" came
from around their feet and she stopped, startled, and then a war between
embarassment and outright hilarity began to war behin her eyes, though
it wasn't as visible on her face.

Killer must have gotten off of Genith when they landed; she had taken
the few packs of stuff down herself and left them in the bowl to be
collected by a handy weyrling or drudge once she found out where her new
weyr would be. She had not brought much with her. A friend of hers
that was a brownrider was going to bring the rest of her belongings a bit later
today.

The feline in question had went running off in whatever direction his
nose would lead him - away from all the cold, wet stuff outside - and he
had run ahead of them without being noticed. He was on the small side,
though his fur was much sleeker now that he was grown.

His tail had been stepped on without noticing, and now he was scolding
them from further up the corridor. "MROW MROW!"

"Oh... my." was all she could manage. "That would be ,,,Killer." At
least T'mahl would never forget how they met!

"Killer?" T'mahl looked down at the feline with a bit of wariness. It
was a rather intimidating name for so small a thing.

Now a faint trace of embarassment graced her cheeks. "Yes, he's my
feline. He must have gotten out of his case on Genith and began to
explore. Let me just scoop him up, hmm?" She called softly to Killer
and after a few minutes and a jaunty flick of his tail, he came close
enough to be picked up and tucked aside.
"Perhaps we'd better skip the tour and you can just point me to my weyr
so I can... deposit him?" She smiled, hoping he didn't mind this
unusual introduction to his new Weyrwoman.

"Of course." He indicated the change of direction and lead her to a set
of stairs. "I hope you don't mind a bit of a climb. Our weyrs are on
the top floor."
"Climbing is just fine, if you do not mind. I'm sure the normal way to
and from is via our dragon's backs!" As they began to climb, she
commented curiously, "That's unusual, isn't it? Having our weyrs on the
top floor?"
"I hadn't thought about it, to be honest," the Weyrleader
admitted."Perhaps there were natural caverns that were easily enlarged
for a queen? Or maybe they just wanted the view of the field below?"

Hygalia smiled, and shrugged. "I suppose it doesn't matter hmm? It
will be a lovely view, and I think Genith and I will both enjoy it here
very much, T'mahl."

"I certainly hope so," he replied sincerely. "I know the weather isn't
the most welcoming, but I hope you will find the people friendly and
warm."

She smiled. "I already do, T'mahl."
