The First Post-Closet Encounter

Writers: Eimi, Shelly
Date Posted: 1st December 2005

Characters: L'cian, Gaiya
Description: L'cian and Gaiya run into each other again
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 6 of Turn 3

Oh shards... It was L'cian! Gaiya almost took a head dive into the closet when she saw it was him walking towards her. Of course, the last time she ducked into a closet he followed her. Shards... Maybe she could pretend that she didn't see him? No, that wouldn't be fair. It wasn't his fault. She was the one who stayed at that scorching mating flight. What in Faranth's name had she been thinking. Well, she remembered what she was thinking when L'cian kissed her. She was thinking how flaming good it felt... **Shell cracks...**

Rather unfortunately, L'cian saw her, too. Just as unfortunately, there were no alternate routes to take to keep him from running into Gaiya. In the days since the flight he couldn't forget a single moment of their encounter and the last thing he had wanted to do was build his hopes up again. But, barring all other choices, there was nothing left to do but:

"Hi Gaiya." He was careful to keep his tone level and emotionless.

"HI L'cian," she replied, careful to keep her tone happy and carefree as she greeted him. She really felt like she was going to be sick, her stomach was turning over so much. "How are you today?"

**If you're ever going to be able to laugh this off, now is the time to mention it and clear the air.** He gave a little chuckle. "Aside from the bruises our little adventure left me with, I'm just fine. I hope you're not too banged up..."

Gaiya tried to smile and act very casual about the whole thing. The problem was, she felt it had been anything but casual. "Oh, nothing permanent."

"Good. I wouldn't want to scare you off of mating flights forever. That would be tragic." He put his arm around her shoulder in a friendly way.

"Yes. Well, I doubt there is much chance of scaring a bronzerider off of them, is there." She had already decided that she had learned her lesson. _No more_ mating flights for her.

"It's not the rider, love. It's the dragon." He shook his head. "I think that lump of mine they like to call my lifemate has chased half the greens on Pern. I'm exhausted, really."

"I can only imagine," she said with an understanding smile. Gaiya had just been witness to one mating flight and was exhausted enough. She couldn't imagine how riders of male dragons could still _stand_ with all the flights they were put through. Although, she never heard of one complaining. And after the intense encounter in the closet with L'cian, she knew why. She blushed now just _thinking_ about it.

"But anyway, I shouldn't keep you. I'm sure you have vastly more important places to be than trying to make awkward conversation in a deserted hallway with an old partner turned current mating flight fling." He removed his arm. "I'll see you around." And without a look back, L'cian successfully made a graceful exit from his first post-closet encounter with Gaiya.
