Y'sani gave Traelyn a polite bow as soon as he entered her office, smiling at her. "Weyrwoman. I'm Y'sani, rider of bronze Luthinath, and the new Weyrlingmaster. I thought it would be good to introduce myself."
"It's very good," she smiled back as she rose from her seat to shake hands with him. Of course, J'darin would fill her in on their new Weyrlingmaster probably sometime later this evening, but there wasn't any reason why she couldn't ask him a few questions herself... "Please, have a seat." She gestured to the chair across from hers.
He shook her hand firmly before taking the offered seat. "I've only just settled in, but I must say the accomodations are excelent."
"I'm glad you think so," Trae smiled as she leaned forward, propping her chin in her hands. He really did have gorgeous eyes... "Where've you transferred in from, Y'sani?"
"I've been at Rising Moons Weyr for the last three turns as Weyrlingmaster,"
Y'sani replied easily, stretching his legs out and crossing his ankles. "My 'second was a good man though who was ready to take over, and I heard that you were in need here, so it seemed like a good time for a change."
She nodded, her expression turning more serious. "We're in desperate need of more riders. The Wing numbers are improving...but it will be a long while before the Weyr can make up for its losses." Nyith had laid a very fine clutch though, and the size of it eased her - and it especially eased J'darin. If anyone felt the most weight of the tragedy, it was him.
"And the Weyrlings have had a... chaotic education," Y'sani said, catching himself just short of saying something a lot less diplomatic.
Traelyn eyed him. "Yes."
Y'sani grinned at her. "Well, I intend to put a stop to that. I turn out good riders, and I'm not shy about admitting it. But I do it the way I do it, and I don't accept anyone interfering with those methods."
One brow rose slightly. Yes, she'd have to keep an eye on this one. And she wondered just _what_ his methods were for teaching the weyrlings. "I see." Then, deciding to think about that later, she smiled. "Your confidence is reassuring to me." **Even if it is a little arrogant...**
"I'm glad," the bronzerider replied, giving her a cheerful wink. "I'd like to think I can make your life a little less stressful, Traelyn. It seems to me that Dolphin Cove has had more than its share of excitement lately." Of course, Y'sani knew that Traelyn herself had caused no little of that excitement herself with her error in judgement, but the bronzerider was smart enough not to mention _that_. Things would probably go a lot more smoothly if he avoided upsetting the Weyrwoman, especially since he had every intention of turning their training program upside down.
"Excitement might be a bit of an understatement, Y'sani." The look in her eyes was a little resigned at that fact. With him filling in the much needed position of Weyrlingmaster, she hoped that this would ease the tension that weighed heavily on she and J'darin's shoulders.
Y'sani did his best to lighten the mood in the room. "Well, I hear there's a fine clutch on the sands now. That should be some _good_ excitement, and it will keep me busy."
Her smile was back. "It'll keep you _very_ busy. I'm sure you've spoken with J'darin?"
"Just before I came here," Y'sani replied. "He seems to be a good man. I'm looking forward to working with both of you." And as long as the Weyleader could control any urges to interfere with his old Weyrlingmaster duties...
well, then Y'sani would enjoy working with him indeed.
