A Little Bath and Chat by the Lake

Description: C'jex and Cosani have a little chat and flirt by the lake as they bathe Shalith
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 4 of Turn 5

Cosani

Most of the time she enjoyed the fact that Shalith was a large green,
but sometimes when she bathed her, Cosani wished she was a little
smaller.

}:I don't want to be smaller,:{ Shalith protested.

**I don't really mean it, but it would be easier to clean you.**

C'jex had just headed toward the lake for a nice refreshing dip with
Ohoneth, when he caught sight of the young green and her rider.

Just as he approached, Ohoneth splashed into the water, spraying the
green and her rider in his haste. C'jex chuckled.

"Sorry about that!" He called out as he approached. "Ohoneth is a bit
feisty today. Cosani, right?" He asked. He seen her around the Weyr
and knew she was a fairly new rider. They hadn't spoken much before,
but looking over her green, he knew that Ohoneth would likely chase
her someday.

}:Oh, yes, Shalith would be well worth the chase,:{ His blue spoke to
him as he squirmed and wallowed down into the deep sands of the water.
}:Shalith, your hide is gleaming nicely today,:{ he complimented the
green.

}:My hide gleams nicely every day. I make sure my rider keeps me that
way.:{ She flicked water at him with her tail in retaliation for his
splashing.

Cosani struggled with a flash of anger, but she supposed she was
already wet. "Yes. Do I know you?" She vaguely recognized him, the way
she vaguely recognized a lot of people in the Weyr.

"C'jex," he replied, "and the big clumsy blue is Ohoneth."

}:I am _not_ clumsy. I splashed on purpose!:{

**Go swim around, let me get to know the pretty girl a bit!** Ohoneth
snorted but turned and waded into the water. He knew his rider would
enjoy anything that had two legs, just about as much as he enjoyed the
four-legged winged variety. He turned his eyes back on Shalith, unable
to stop watching her.

"Do you need a hand?" He asked Cosani. "Or would you rather we take
our splashing elsewhere?" He grinned a bit foolishly at her. C'jex
hardly ever took anything seriously. Life was far too precious to
quibble and quabble over things. Life was meant to be enjoyed.

She frowned a little as she thought it over. "I guess you could help.
I mean, thanks." She smiled a little as she offered him a brush.

It wasn't the best invitation he'd ever received, but C'jex took it
anyway. Company was something he thrived on.

"So how has life as a rider been treating you?" He asked taking the
brush and dunking it into the water to wet it.

"Well enough." She stared at Shalith's hide as she scrubbed. She felt
like she should say something more, but she didn't know what to say.
He wasn't bad looking. Did she like him? The way Shalith was preening
under Ohoneth's attention made her wonder if the green was influencing
her mood. Finally she asked, "How about you?"

C'jex grinned and gave a bit of a chuckle under his breath. "I've
always enjoyed this life. Been in the Weyrs all my life and I couldn't
imagine anything differently. I would surely chafe under the
restrictions of those who live outside the Weyr. Ohoneth and I, we
just live day to day, enjoying the moments as much as possible." C'jex
lifted his head at Ohoneth who clearly agreed with his rider.

He shrugged his shoulders a bit as he worked his muscles to help scrub
Shalith's hide alongside Cosani. "Ohoneth seeems to have taken a
liking to Shalith," C'jex added, winking in Cosani's direction. }:She
is worth my attentions:{ The blue told his rider in a bit of an
affronted tone.

**Never said she wasn't, old friend. Enjoy it. What more is there than
to capitalize on these times.**

"She likes the attention." **I know you want to show off, but don't
squirm. It makes it hard to clean you.** Cosani reached for a higher
spot. "You should see her when she's about to rise. It drives me
crazy."

"Perhaps I will soon," C'jex answered her with a wink. "Ohoneth will
definitely want to try flying her, from the way things are going in
the waters. I'm surprised we haven't joined in a Flight with you
before. We must have been away from the Weyr, for surely neither
Ohoneth or I would have missed such a chance." C'jex grinned and
continued to scrub Shalith.

Cosani felt her cheeks warm and hated herself for it. "Well it's only
happened twice." She still wasn't sure what to think of them. Flights
felt good, but she didn't like that she didn't have control and both
times she'd woken up next to a stranger.

C'jex caught the blush and was bemused by it. She was cute, and he
liked that his comments had made her blush. "Well, you'll have many
more ahead of you." He paused, nodding his head up towards Shalith.
"She looks good. Have we missed any spots?"

"No, I don't think so. Go rinse off," she said out loud for C'jex's
benefit. Shalith headed deeper, but stayed close to Ohoneth. "Thanks
for the help."

"You're very welcome. I think Ohoneth enjoyed the company just as much
as I did," C'jex smiled warmly in her direction.

She managed not to blush this time, but it was a close call.
