The Headwoman had heard that the other goldrider was being asked to take over
for the time being. Qorri didn't know about that, but it wasn't her
decision. She did, however, have to work with the woman so she thought she should at
least meet her. **She better not be that hard to track down**

Janani was actually sitting in the Weyrwoman's office trying to sort through the
mounds of hides that were left for her to tend to now. It seemed that
the past few sevendays had been more neglected than others. Frowning, Janani
realized just how deep whatever had affected Traelyn must have been. The poor goldrider had been
dealing with something only she knew. She had, however, left a bit of
a jumble of hides that Janani had to sort and finish, and place in their correct
spots. This was not going to be an easy task.

After asking a few folk, Qorri had found the goldrider. She knocked on
the door once, then entered. In her mind, this space didn't belong to Janani just
yet. "Good afternoon."

Looking up quickly, Janani sent a pile of scrolls tumbling to the
floor. Blowing her hair out of her eyes, she sighed. "Guess I'll have to start that again.
Hello. Come in. I'm just trying to get some order in here, but I seem to be making more of a
mess than making progress." Sitting the scrolls aside, she asked, "What can I do for you?"

"Actually, it's more what I can do for you." She stepped forward,
surveying the office. "I'm Qorri, the Weyr's Headwoman." She knew the other woman had seen
her, even though they had never spoken.

"Ah, yes! Qorri. I've seen you around, but I didn't realize who you
were at the time. My apologies." Janani shoved the scrolls out of her way. "At the
moment, I'm just trying to figure out exactly what I should be doing, since the records
Traelyn left me aren't all that clear. Perhaps you can help. Was there anything pressing the pair
of you were working on? What kind of things did you discuss in recent months? I could use
a bit of information." Janani gestured towards the chair in the office, inviting Qorri to
take a seat if she wished.

Qorri stood for a while, but she did enter further into the room.
"Nothing pressing since the riders are going to the Holds for Turns' End. Mainly, dear,
you need to just decide which of her things you will do and what you're going to tell
the other two to do."

"What things _did_ she do? Truthfully, I hardly saw or spoke with her
in my time here. I was intent on my purpose of helping the young goldriders and Traelyn
seemed rather preoccupied with other things. I could use your assistance here Qorri, as I have
not been at Dolphin Cove nearly long enough to know what all is needed."

That's all she needed to hear. "I promised the Weyrleader I'd get you
up to speed. Are you ready to write?"

Janani pushed her brown hair out of her face as she stuck her hands
into the piles of hides on her desk to find what she needed. Holding up her writing supplies with a
triumphant look on her face she exclaimed, "I'm ready. Tell me what I need to know."

"As Weyrwoman, you are my boss. Through me, you oversee most of the
Weyr. I take care of my own staffing and inventory, but you take care of tithe. So you look at my
inventories, see what's low, see what's coming in for tithe, and figure out if we need more or not, and
request such from the Lord Holders. You also assign the fostermothers. So if there are any Weyrbrats
needing care, you would decide who gets them. I am the liaison to the Craftmasters, so if we need
anything for the Weyr from them, let me know. Of course you realize you will be a Wingleader and will take
on those duties as well." Qorri stopped to make sure she was following.

"One of your more important duties, besides making sure the queens are
healthy and laying-is to keep the Weyr's records up-to-date. Births, deaths, casualties, eggs,
hatchings..all of that has to go in there, though you can enlist a harper to assist you if need be.
Generally, one of the goldriders will be asked to check on the sick and injured riders, especially
since most of them will fly in the queens' wing for a time, though the healers will do that as well. Any gold
weyrlings will fall under your purview after their initial training and...you should probably go meet the
Lord Holders at some point as well as the Craftmasters. Those are the most important things. And of course
I'll be here to help you and you have two other queenriders to delegate some of that to."

Janani's pen scribbled furiously as Qorri spoke. The part about leading the wing was the easy part.
Janani had been a rider for nearly half her life, but she knew now that she would have to take on more
responsibility there. _That_ was something she looked forward to. "Alright, so I've got quite a list of
things to do, it seems. Thank you Qorri for assisting me. Is there anything pressing that needs to be seen
to right now while I digest all of this?"

"Your weyr and your clothes. Do you plan on moving into the...Weyrwoman's weyr or are you going
to wait to see how the flight goes? And if you plan on seeing the Lord Holders, you'll need something to
wear." B'ram had packed most of the things in Traelyn's weyr, but Qorri's people would see to the stuff
that belonged to the Weyr. She needed to know if it needed to be ready now or later.

"I would prefer to wait. Give the Weyr some time to recover." Janani didn't want them to think she was
trying to tarnish the memory of Traelyn. "I have a few things among my clothes I could probably wear,
but I wouldn't mind getting something new fashioned. Who would you recommend I talk with about getting
a new dress made?"

"See Kaiji. She'll get you sorted." The weaver was more than capable and Qorri knew she did most of the
business in the Weyr. "And I can find you shoes if you need."

"Thank you Qorri," Janani replied. "I would appreciate that. I hope we can have a good working relationship,
at least until one of the dragons rise and an official Weyrwoman is named."

"Well, I will leave you to it, but you know where to find me. It's time to go check on the laundry." She was
already thinking of what else she had to do.

Janani nodded her thanks and turned to the list she'd made as Qorri had spoken. She had _many_ things
to see to, glancing at the list, she started making plans for the rest of her day.
