Characters: Tavia, U'kaiah
Description: U'kaiah comes to visit Tavia and check on her
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 27 of Turn 5
For the third time in less than a month, Kalamath broke through the
clouds over Dolphin Cove. U'kaiah needed to know what Tavia's final
decision was, and had promised to support her no matter what choice she
might make. It sounded likely that she would keep the child, in which
case, he figured they would have a lot to discuss.
**Is she expecting me?** he asked his bronze.
}:They are waiting,:{ Kalamath confirmed as he backwinged onto the
ledge. He gave Sawauth a gentle nudge with his snout by way of
greeting.
**Flirt,** U'kaiah smiled as he slipped off the bronze's neck. His
lifemate's only reply was a snort of amusement.
"Tavia?" he called as he pulled back the curtain to the ledge.
}:Kalamath's comes:{ she heard from her pretty green followed by a
ripple of pleasure at the bronze's greeting. Sawauth greeted the
bronze with a flirt of her tail, eyes whirling with pleasure at his
visit.
She glimpsed the dragon eyes as U'kaiah came through the curtain.
"U'kaiah!" she stood and smiled in welcome. "Are you hungry? I think I
have a meat pie left from dinner."
"Famished," he said walking towards her with a grin. Snaking his arms
around her, he stole a quick kiss. "You don't happen to have any klah,
do you?"
"I do as a matter of fact," she kissed him back. "It's good to see
you." she said. She untangled herself from his arms and went to the
sideboard to bring the pot to the table. She also got the meat pie,
some bread, fruit, and cheese she had stashed for when she got the
munchies. It seemed to happen at the oddest hours and she didn't want
to trudge through the Weyr in the middle of the night.
"That will do for a lunch," U'kaiah said, rather impressed by the
spread. Lunchtime was the easiest time for him to come to Dolphin Cove
with the time difference, so he had been afraid he would have to miss
the mid-day meal. "This is perfect, thank you."
She sat back in the chair at her tiny table. Just enough room for two.
Being a greenrider's weyr it was very small compared to Ukaiah's and
she didn't have any facilities for bathing. That was done in the
community pools in several places around the Weyr. "Good to see you,"
she said with a smile.
"I'm sorry I couldn't come earlier." The end of the Turn was always a
busy time in a Weyr. "How are you feeling?"
Her dinner was long done so she propped elbow on the table and her
chin on her palm as she watched him eat. "I know you're busy," she
said. She didn't add that she hadn't really expected to see much of
him at all now she couldn't come to him. "Feeling much better," she
added with a smile. "Vandor gave me some herbs for tea and they seem
to help."
"You went to see the healers, then?" he asked between bites. If she
did, she had probably made her final decision.
She smiled at his question, "Yes, and my Wingleader for modified duty.
Can't be flying thread right now. So I'll be working more hours in the
infirmary and helping Janani catch up on her hidework."
He smiled a little, relieved that it was at last decided. It was for
sure now. "Good," he said, reaching for a citrus. "Is there anything I
can do?" U'kaiah really didn't know how involved she wanted him to be.
Or just what a father-to-be _could_ do. He hadn't exactly been around
when Felke had found herself to be pregnant. Part of that was due to
the circumstances involved and part, U'kaiah had to admit, was due to
his own immaturity.
He really was being kind about this whole thing in her opinion. They'd
just been having fun without any strings. She smiled. "I don't even
know at this point what or if I"m going to need anything." she said.
"But more visits are always welcome. This baby is yours as much as
mine U'kaiah." He could be as involved as he wanted but she didn't
plan on trying to force him into anything.
"I promise, I'll come. It probably can't be more than a few times a
month, but I will come as much as I can." He had managed to see Trae
fairly often during their affair, but they had split the time between
their Weyrs and they had both been able to get work done. Things were
different in this case. "And any time you need me, don't hesitate to
call me. I have a steady Wingsecond and he can be trusted to take over
my duties at a moments notice."
"That's great!" she smiled. She was getting the feeling that maybe he
wanted this baby. He hadn't really asked her either way but left it up
to her. But just the thought gave her a little bright glow inside. Not
that she had any illusions about the bronze rider or herself for that
matter. This event would bring them close for a season but neither of
them were looking or expecting more than that.
"I'll make sure not to abuse the privilege," she said with a smile.
She had friends aplenty who could take him a message if necessary. "I
won't call you _every_ time I need some great sex." The way he played
her body she was quite certain he didn't lack for willing partners
closer to home.
"Oh, well, maybe I can't come _every_ time, but I can come _sometimes_,"
he assured her with a grin. U'kaiah certainly wasn't opposed to the
idea of dropping everything and rushing off to run his lips and hands
over that beautiful body of hers! Duty really was an inconvenience at
times. "And when I can't come, maybe I can send you a note detailing
all the things I would do to you if I could come."
She chuckled. Tavia loved his sense of humor that was part and parcel
of her attraction to the tall bronze rider. "Notes can be a great deal
of fun as long as they aren't intercepted. Too bad I don't have a well
trained flit to do the job."
"So what if they're intercepted?" he asked with a saucy smile. "It
would only make people wish they were in our shoes."
Tavia's eyes lit with mirth "_You_ are a bad man U'kaiah" she laughed
shaking a finger at him. "And I love it."
He propped his chin up on his hand as he looked at her with a
self-pleased grin. "I have been told I'm at my best when I'm at my
worst."
"They didn't lie," she said with a grin and leaned forward to put her
own chin on her hand.
"So you like bad boys, then?" he asked, leaning forward slightly.
"Mmhmm," she said as she placed her lips on his.
"Hmmm," U'kaiah hummed, leaning back ever so slightly. "I think you
like me."
"A little bit," she said with a grin. "But don't get a big head about
it."
"Well, I'll tell you a secret." He leaned in to kiss her neck softly,
just below her ear and whispered, "I kind of like you, too."
She smiled. "Mmm. Done with your lunch?" Her fingers kneaded his neck
as she shivered at the light touch.
U'kaiah's fingers brushed along her inner thigh, nipping at her ear.
"Time to move on to desert."
"Oh yes," she responded "I love dessert."
