R'enh

R'enh

She'd heard about N'vanik's new wingsecond, a new arrival. Janani was
eager to meet him and had invited him to meet her in her office for a
light afternoon tea so she could formally welcome him to the Weyr.
There was, of course, more to this meeting than just a welcome. He
was, after all, a bronzerider and though N'vanik had won the flight
this time, that did not mean that things might not change in the
future. It was _always_ important to know who would make good mates
for her queen and good leaders for the Weyr in case something would
change. She'd made it a point to get to know some of the bronzeriders
better now that she'd had more time to settle into her role. But this
R'enh was completely new to her and she was more than curious to learn
about him.

R'enh had figured the call would come from the Weyrwoman at some point
and he had prepared for that eventuality. He'd made the wire himself a
long time ago and lugged it around with him from place to place. He'd
spent some of his free time over the last few weeks crafting some
earrings as a gift for their first meeting. He had them wrapped in
some cotton and a cloth wrapping and stuffed in his pocket.

She'd finally summoned him so he made his way to her office. He rapped
a knuckle on the door and then stuck his head in. "You wanted to see
me Weyrwoman?" he called politely.

"Good morn to you, R'enh," she said, rising to greet him and offer her
hand. "Come in, make yourself at home. I just wanted the chance to get
to know our newest bronzerider and wingsecond to N'vanik." She
gestured towards the chair as she herself settled into one opposite
him. "Would you care for some water or klah?" Both of which were laid
out before them along with a few treats to nibble.

"Thank you Weyrwoman, klah would be nice." He sat where she indicated
and picked a small meat pie from the tray. "What would you like to
know?" he asked politely.

"Anything," she remarked as she poured him some klah. "What brought
you here? What you think of Dolphin Cove? Anything at all. Tell me
about you. I like to know all my riders, but _especially_ my
bronzeriders." It was evident from her tone _exactly_ what she was
getting at with her last comment. All bronzeriders were important to
her for any one of them could become a mate for Angdelouth and now
that she was Weyrwoman, that also meant they could potentially be the
next Weyrleader.

He smiled at her, thinking about the one Weyrwoman he already knew
quite well. He owed her a visit and a congratulations but that was for
later and this was now. "Dolphin Cove is warm, I find I like the
weather. Mnoranth and I are ambitious and we wanted a promotion, so we
came here when it became evident it wasn't going to happen where we
were and there was a wingsecond position open." He smiled at her
possessive tone, only to be expected of course. He was sure he'd seen
Mnoranth sunning with the big gold on the heights.

"I like ambitious," she said with a hint of a purr to her voice. "I
think I'm going to like having you here at Dolphin Cove." Her eyes
were twinkling. She was enjoying flirting with him and he was
definitely easy on the eyes. "Have you settled in well then? It took
me awhile to adjust to things here, but thankfully I had some good
help," Janani thought of Meledei who had made her early days here so
much more pleasant. That girl was truly destined for great things,
Janani was sure of it.

"Good to hear," he said. "It would be hard to change at this late
date." He knew as all bronze riders did that any of them was a
potential mate for her gold beauty. "I actually found a nice weyr with
a big enough couch for him to stretch himself. Nice room for me as
well. "I'm still gathering some of the appropriate furnishings. The
weather here is so different from where I was."

"There are some good things in the store rooms," Janani replied, "In
fact I have a tapestry or two from there that I don't really use much
anymore, if you'd like them." She remembered when Meledei had helped
her by finding them and putting them up. Since then, however, she'd
brought all of her own things and no longer really needed the extras.
"I could drop them off at your weyr or you could pick them up from
mine if you're interested."

"I've gotten several things from storage but just the basic
furnishings. Qorri has been quite helpful, but tapestries would be
great. I'll come and get them, there's no need for you to transport
them. Though I wouldn't mind a suggestion or two of where to put them
once I got them there." He smiled, he knew from more than one weyrmate
that he had very limited decorating skills.

"I'd be happy to help. Stop by my weyr anytime you're free," Janani
paused then added, "You can just let Angdelouth know when you're
coming."

"Thank you very much Weyrwoman," he said standing, knowing he was dismissed.
