Xorian was reviewing his notes from the candidate class. It was almost
like being an apprentice all over again.

He lifted his gaze from the notes to glance around. New candidates
seemed to be arriving daily and he hadn't yet met half of them.

Qorri walked into the room, looking over the ones gathered. Now that
the clutch was hardening on the sands, she had a lot to do to get
ready. The candidates had to be ready. They could help her with some
things that her drudges didn't have time for. The Headwoman waited to
make sure they were paying attention before she began.

Xorian turned to look at her.

Pierka sat up a little straighter in her seat when the Headwoman
entered. She'd gone where she was directed and talked to the people
Qorri had sent her to, but she didn't know yet if she was going to be
allowed to Stand. So, she was on her best behavior.

Tanom was there, for they had been summoned. Though he'd done this
many times over, he never once shirked away from whatever duties were
asked of him. Though he had tasks of his own that he wished to work on
in the workshop, he would always pull himself away when it came to
candidate duties.

Daishii sat near the middle of the room - which allowed her to better
keep tabs on the people around her - crossing and uncrossing her
ankles as she waited for the lecture to start. She looked around the
room curiously, taking note of the candidates that she hadn't seen
there before. She would make an effort to get to know each of them
before the Hatching, and see if any of them had access to any
interesting gossip.

"Allright, in addition to your regular chores, you will now have additional
duties, in light of the hatching that will be approaching. These will
include, but not be limited to, assisting my staff to ready visitors' quarters, get your robes ready, clean up the stands at the grounds, and help to unload the extra supplies that will be coming in." She watched their faces, making sure they were all listening. "Your chore assignments will be on the board as always so please check it since it will be changing daily. Does anyone have their robes ready for inspection?"

Tanom was not surprised by anything the headwoman said, having been
through this many times before. He simply nodded his head. When the
time came and she asked about robes, he raised a hand slightly and
said. "Mine are already ready, Headwoman. I can get them now or bring
them to you whenever you would like." He'd kept his robes in pristine
condition between hatchings and had taken them out again once a
sevenday since the eggs had been laid just to check and make sure they
were as they should be.

Meledei slipped through the door and slid to a spot just to the right
of it, closing it quietly. She was just making rounds, checking on
things. The candidates were under the jurisdiction of the headwoman,
but she thought it was a good idea to pop in now and again. She also
liked to look at the candidates, check on their progress and there
were a few new ones she hadn't met yet.

Pierka raised her hand in response to the Headwoman's question. She
was quite conscientious in keeping the few things she owned spotless.
She had only two changes of clothing in her locker besides her uniform
and candidate robes.

Daishii forced back a moan of disgust at the mention of additional
chores, then nodded when the Headwoman inquired about Hatching Robes.
Hers had been checked and triple checked so many times now that she
feared that her nervous fingers would wear holes in it.

"I haven't touched mine," Xorian said. It was still folded in his locker,
the way he had received it. He realized that he probably should at least try it on to see if it fit.

"Those that have them ready, please bring them in for inspection. The rest
of you, please have them ready in two days' time. If you don't know how
to alter or hem, please come and see me or your fellows who do. Now, are
there any other questions?" Qorri looked from one to the other of them.

Meledei's eyes moved from candidate to candidate. Those she was
familiar with received a smile. When they fell upon Tanom, she lifted
her hand and wiggled her fingers, then gave him a wink. She chuckled
at the various responses from the candidates. She'd had her robe
ready for a very long time - but then again, she'd been standing for a
very long time! She opened her mouth to offer to help but realised
she wouldnt' have _time_ to help an entire class of candidates with
their robes so she shut it before she said a word.

"No ma'am," Pierka murmured. After the class was over, she'd go
directly to her rooms and retrieve her robes to bring in.

Tanom smiled towards Meledei, though he didn't return her gesture.
_She_ no longer had to worry about doing all the things necessary as a
candidate to Impress. When the Headwoman spoke again, he nodded. He
would retrieve his robes and present them to her as soon as this
meeting ended.

Xorian shook his head and put away his notes. He would check the robe
immediately.
