J'darin

J'darin

Having found a few moments to himself, and longing for the smooth, sweet, uncomplicated friendship he shared with a certain greenrider, J'darin meandered to Dyaera's Weyr, getting a quick lift from Hasaarth, who could, it seemed, barely be pried away from his new mate.

If only he and the queen's rider got along so fine..

Shrugging off those worries for another day, he called out from the ledge. "Dyaera? Dyaera, love? I've come to see just how much _better_ you're feeling."

"In here," came the muffled voice from her sleeping chamber.

"Dyaera?" He said curiously, coming into her sleeping chamber and seeing her curled up on the bed. "Love? Whats the matter? Are you feeling like company, or no?"

Dyaera looked up at him, confusion in her dark eyes. "Tell me the truth, J'darin... the _truth_. Am I hideous now?"

J'darin laughed aloud. "I have never lied to you, lovely greenrider. And you are quite beautiful to my eyes. I can promise you that. " He sobered quickly, frowning at her. "Who has said such things of you?" Anger showed in his blue eyes and his right hand fisted for a moment. He had thought she'd begun to believe him..

"No one," Dyaera replied hastily. "It's just... I don't know. No one seems to want to spend time with me now." 'No one' had a name, but Dyaera didn't want to get J'darin upset at D'cal again.

J'darin frowned at her, his eyes narrowed wisely and suspiciously. "Dyaera, I would spend more time with you if I could, I promise." He said softly, reaching out for her hand. His frown continued. "But I know it isn't me
you really are pining after. Have you and D'cal been fighting again?"
There was no anger - yet. Since becoming Weyrleader, J'darin's opinions
had mellowed a bit. _ALL_ the riders were important to him. Every color, every type.

"Fighting... not really." Dyaera sighed. "There's nothing to fight about. He's jealous of other men I spend time with but he's not interested in spending time with me himself. I won't put up with that so that's the end of that."

"Are you so sure he isn't interested, Dyaera? You two haven't been able to communicate very well from day one." He patted her hand again, gently. "Although perhaps that makes it better to stay away.." he mused quietly, then bent to kiss her cheek. "I just hate seeing you so worried about how you look. You are beautiful, dear greenrider."

Had she been able to move, she would have thrown herself into his arms. As it was, she tugged him down awkwardly and buried her face in his shoulder, hoping to hide her tears. "I don't feel like it," she muttered into his shoulder.

"Oh lass.. " he murmured softly, holding her as gently as he could, even if it took some flexibility on his part. "Its going to be alright, Dyaera. You're beautiful, my dearest. You are a true dragonrider; you've faced the Thread and survived. You and your dragon too. And that is something to be proud of.." He went on in the same soft tone, like you would with a small child, soothing and .. caring.

She relaxed against him slowly, tears slowing as she took comfort in his soothing voice. Finally she pulled back and gave him a hesitant smile. "I suppose I have to listen to you because you're the Weyrleader now."

J'darin grinned at her, irreverently. "It would be nice if at least one rider in my care respected me, yes." His chuckle was warm, including her, and he bent to kiss her cheek, then her lips. "So listen to your grouchy Weyrleader. You should be so proud of yourself."

Dyaera smiled at him fondly, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Yes, sir. Whatever you say!"

J'darin shifted their positions so he could hold her, and let her lean on him a bit, sliding into her bed with her. "Shall I stay a bit, love, or are you feeling better enough to kick me out?" His eyebrows arched playfully at her. "Or better yet, well enough to ...keep me here for a few candlemarks?"

"You'd stay?" Dyaera asked shyly, looking up at him. There had been plenty of men going on about how beautiful and wonderful she was lately, but not one of them had been willing to do anything about it.

Surprised, he looked at her for a long moment. "I can't believe you'd think I wouldn't, darling greenrider. I'm very choosy about bedpartners, in case you haven't noticed. And I chose you a long time ago..." He tilted her chin up and kissed her lightly, gently, as if she might break. But that wouldn't last if she truly let him stay.

She returned his kiss with a nervousness that she'd never displayed before, not even the first time. When he didn't pull away, however, she slowly relaxed, one hand coming up to clutch at his shoulder as he pulled back. "I don't mind if you stay, but I don't move so good right now..."

J'darin smiled at her encouragingly. "You're beautiful, lass. And I can do enough moving for two... if you'll let me..." His sensitive carver fingers slid along bare skin, followed by his lips.

"Do you..." She hesitated but pushed forward. After all, this was J'darin. She could turn onto her stomach with only mild soreness, so she did so, letting him see her back and the mass of healed scars. "Th-they, they look better, don't they?" Even knowing what he'd say, Dyaera's stomach felt like it was full of knots. Everyone else had said they didn't care about the scars, too. And then they'd found reasons to leave.

Surprised by her movements and insistence, J'darin complied with her wishes and looked at the scars on her back. His hands never left their gentle caresses, though he did move them to trace the scars a little, in professional interest. "They do look better, Dyaera." His eyes looked up to her face, turned away as it was. "They don't make you any less beautiful, or make me want you any less. Although, it might lead be to be more gentle with you than I would normally."

As he was talking, he lay down over her, but with no weight pressing on any
sore parts and leaned down to kiss bare skin. He kissed one of the scars,
but since he knew she couldn't feel much beneath scar tissue he spent the
majority of his efforts on skin where she could feel. If no one else had
the time and caring for Dyaera to do something this important to her, he would, and be glad to do it.

She was worried about not being able to move enough, but in the end she shouldn't have been. She ended up drained but sated, stretched out on J'darin with her cheek pressed against his chest. She smiled sleepily as some of the tension of the past months finally left her. "I can hear your heart. It's going to put me to sleep. It's nice."

J'darin's smile was soft and more tender than was often seen as he lay with her, hopefully lulling her to sleep. He kissed the top of her head gently and longed for someone he could share his life with, the same way Dyaera so trustingly shared her's with him. "Sleep, Dyaera, and wake refreshed. I'll always be here for you if you need me."

"Mmmm..." She kissed his chest lazily, obviously well on her way to sleep. "Thank you..."

J'darin merely smiled, content to lay with her for a little while, until she was asleep. Such was the tender care even this wherry's arse could show..
