Description: N'mor makes a visit to Meledei.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 23 of Turn 6
Meledei worked the ointment into her wound with careful, gentle
strokes. It helped ease the pain and the healers had said it would
also help minimize the scarring. To be honest, the scarring wasn't
nearly as bad as she would thought it would be, with or without the
pointment. A thin line traced its way across her right hip and down
her right thigh, as if she had been given a lashing. It was remain,
certainly, but while it was currently red, the swelling had already
gone down quite a bit.
The knock at the door made her look up and call out, "Come in!" She
wasn't naked, but she had on a skirt to give her easier access to her
wound and it was pulled up to reveal it. She tugged it down enough to
cover her bottom, but she wasn't done spreading the ointment on her
thigh, so continued to rub it in.
N'mor walked in. "Hi Meledei," he greeted and noticed what she was
doing. "Am I bothering you, is this a bad time? I can come back later."
"Hey N'mor." Meledei greeted him cheerfully, then shook her head.
"Nah, I'm just putting medicine on my wound. I'm almost done - come on
in."
"Ked was chatting with Elleth and they decided you need my company,"
N'mor explained and walked in.
"Is that so?" Meledei giggled and rubbed the ointment over the lowest
point of her score, then shifted and tugged her skirt back down. She
didn't really wear skirts that often, but found they felt better than
wearing pants did right now, and it gave her easier access for her
ointment. "I always enjoy company. How have you been?"
"I've been just fine. How about you? That Scoring bothering you a lot?"
N'mor answered.
"Eh, it's got it's good days and bad days." Meledei shrugged and
carefully shifted. It was a lot easier to move than it had been at
first, but it still hurt. "I think it's rather tempermental."
"Yeah, I know. I got Scored at my Blooding. Just a little thing in my
upper arm, but it got infected and took a long time to heal," N'mor
said.
"I'm trying to _avoid_ infection." Meledei chuckled softly and then
motioned to the couch. "Come have a seat. I think I remember that
scoring. Now I can have more sympathy for those who experience it -
though not really my preferred method."
"Yes, it's not fun." N'mor said and blopped down on the offered seat.
"Is Elleth show any signs of Rising?" the question was probably in
Weyr's every bronzeriders mind
"Not yet." Meledei was glad that was the case. She'd hate for her
lifemate to rise while injured. Of course, they had learned that
injuries could sometimes delay those sort of things - usually on the
dragon's part in concern and helpfulness to the rider. "But I don't
imagine it will be more than a few more months."
"Well, it's bound to happen sooner or later," N'mor said. "And until it
happens, all the bronzeriders are crowding around you."
Meledei chuckled softly. "So is that why you came to see me?"
"Partially. But I also consider you a friend and wanted to see how
you're doing with that leg of yours," N'mor replied honestly.
"Ah, so you admit it!" Meledei jabbed a finger through the air at
N'mor, but her expression gave away her amusement. "I'm doing pretty
well. Healing slowly, but healing normally I've been told. It's just
annoying how slow I am getting around - though I'm faster than when I
first started on the crutches!"
N'mor grinned. "I'm glad to hear you're doing better."
