Description: R'enh comes to Qorri with a special request
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 14 of Turn 6
R'enh approached the Headwoman's office. He was fairly sure his
request would be granted but he didn't take anything as a given
without first asking.
Knocking on her open door frame he leaned in with a charming smile.
"Open for business?"
She looked up from what she was doing and nodded. "Aye Wingsecond,
something you need?"
"Yes," he said coming into her office and sitting down across from
her. "My son is about to turn twelve and has expressed his desire to
stand. He's still at Vista Point at the moment and I thought it might
be possible to bring him here to finish his Harper lessons."
"Ahh..." Qorri tried to discern what he was saying. "If you would like
a candidate transfer, that is a question for the Weyrwoman. If he is
not yet able to Stand, his fosterfamily and the other Weyrwoman would
have to consent to bringing him here. If his fosterfamily didn't want to
come, I'd have to find another for him."
"I know his foster mother has other foster children and would probably
not be willing to come but I can ask." R'enh knew Larlet would not
want to come. She was involved in a rather serious relationship with
one of his friends there.
"Very well, then I can start to look. I would suggest you have Janani ask
the other Weyrwoman for her permission then. It's better for them to speak
to an equal in matters as that." Qorri didn't like dealing with most of the
older goldriders unless she had to.
A tiny smile played around the corners of his mouth. He doubted the
rumor mill had had time to really get into full swing but perhaps the
Headwoman already knew. He wouldn't put it past her at all. "Of
course," he said lightly. "I'll make a point to ask her."
"Very well. As soon as permission is given and the child is brought, I
will find them quarters. Janani will have to approve my choice of foster
parent, but I don't think that will be a problem." She looked back at him
once, considering. "Was there anything else?"
"Well if my son does transfer, I would like a bit larger weyr with an
extra sleeping chamber for when he stays the night. Of course I
realize that may not be possible right away but would appreciate if
you kept an eye out."
"Well, you're already in quarters befitting your station, so anything
else won't be the same size and the number of weyrs with extra space..
but I can try to do my best." Qorri usually reserved the ones with space
for riders with nonrider weyrmates that kept their children as they were
able.
"Certainly," he smiled. "That's fine." Truly he just wanted Zorenh to
have some privacy when he stayed with him.
"Is there anything else? Is your furniture adequate?" She hadn't gotten to
know this one yet and she found herself curious.
He smiled "Yes, I got some help from Meledei when I first got here.
Janani also gave me some wall coverings. I think it's coming together
quite nicely and Mnoranth fits well into his couch. He's quite happy
about that actually."
"Good. Just let me know if there's anything else I can do." Privately, she
wondered how long this one would stay.
He nodded and put his hands on the arms of the chair preparing to
stand. "Thank you," he said, then pushed himself to his feet. "I'll
talk with the Weyrwoman and get back to you then."
