Setmiya smiled as young woman walked up. She still could not believe how much the girl had grown! The greenrider remembered fondly when she was an apprentice dolphineer at the Dolphin Hall, and Kirranna was just a few turns old. How she had loved to play with the little girl. And now here she was, fifteen turns and a candidate in her own right. Setmiya was so happy to have become reaquinted with the young woman, and was more than happy to take her for a ride on her green.

"So you got permission to come with me, eh?" She asked as the girl walked up. "No one is afraid you will defect to Dragonsfall?"

Kirra smiled "Nah, they know I would never stray that far from home." She gave her long time friend a generous hug and smiled as memories came flooding back. "Do you remember how I used to always follow you around while you were doing your chores? Oh, and that one time when you were scrubbing the floor of the dining hall and I came over and started playing with the soap bubbles in the bucket and fell in and spilled all the water everywhere and it took you _so_ long to clean it up!" Kirranna watched as the Greenrider's face lit up with the fondness of the memory.

"Yes, you were a bit of a terror back then." The greenrider smiled at the shared memory. "You better be on a bit better behavior today," she teased.

Oh don't worry..." Kirranna's smile faded to awe as she looked at the green. Setmiya watched as the candidate's eyes absorbed every feature of the dragon from the tip of her snout to the last bit of her tail.

"Have you ridden a dragon before?" Setmiya asked, rather pleased with the girls reaction.

She looked back at Setmiya with eager eyes, "Nope, but I can't wait to!" She looked at the rider, her eyes silently begging that she could mount Midorath.

Setmiya adjusted the straps on Midorath's neck and gave the girls a leg up. "All right, Kirra, are you ready?"

Kirranna beamed, "Definately!" She stepped up on the rider's hands and climbed up onto Midorath.

She secured the girl quickly and swung up in front of her. "All right, Kirra, you can put your arms around me and hold on. Before we go /between/ I will squeeze your arm to let you know. It might seem a little cold and scary, but don't worry, it will only last a couple seconds, and Midorath and I will be with you the whole time."

As they took off Kirra smiled vibrantly. She began to hum a cheerful and joyous melody she had heard one of the harpers at the Weyr sing. She almost forgot about going between until she felt a squeeze on her arm and then she gasped. Having never been /between/ before she was startled, even though she had been told about it, by the cold. This feeling was unexpected though, this uncanny chill.

When they popped back into the light, Setmiya gave her friend's arm another squeeze. "Are you still back there?" she called back to the girl.

"I believe so." Kirra rubbed her arms trying to get rid of the chill that ran through her body knowing it would only go away with time.

She looked around her. The Weyrbowl bellow them must be Dragonfall's. She looked at the busy riders, and weyrlings and weyrfolk all going about their business bellow her.

"I can't tell you how much this has meant to me," The girls eyes were brimming with tears. Her first flight on a dragon. Her first time /between/. Her first time seeing DFW. "You have always been a good friend to me, thank you." She tried not to sound mushy. She knew that of all things this was a routine flight for Setmiya, but it had ment a lot to Kirra.

"Anytime, Kirra. Now, I have to go run my errand. It shouldn't take too long. Are you alright by yourself?" The greenrider asked.

"Yeah I'll be fine. The girl with the flits sent a message that she would meet me at the enterance of the Dining Hall. So as long as I can find my way there I'll be fine." The girl smiled brightly and gave Setmiya a big hug.

"Well, I should be back in about two candlemarks. Do you think you can meet me back here then?"

Kirra smiled and jumped off the dragon, "Yes of course."

Setmiya smiled down at her young friend. "All right. If you find yourself in trouble, just ask a rider to have his dragon bespeak mine and I will come. Stand back now, Midorath and I are going to take off."

Kirra stepped back and watched the dragon take off.
