Healing Herbs for Sale

Writers: Chelle, Jelena
Date Posted: 18th February 2012

Characters: Parme, D'lorn
Description: D'lorn purchases some things from Parme's gather stall.
Location: Sunstone Seahold
Date: month 6, day 1 of Turn 6

It was only a small stall, but the herbal smells of Parme's gather
stall spread far and wide. She was stocked to the brim with salves,
ointments, herbal teas and so on. There was a little something for
every minor ailment and business was much better than she had
expected. The girls were helping her out splendidly too and Elson was
off with a friend she trusted, so all was well in Parme's little
world. She helped customer after customer, meanwhile teaching her
girls the questions they should be asking to come to the right
treatment. Finally, she had a moment of quiet as the crowd dwindled a
little and Parme sat down on a chair next to her stall to give her
feet some rest, sending off the girls to get themselves some
refreshments.

The greenrider had been browsing and he smelled the place from down
the aisle. D'lorn decided it couldn't hurt and he walked up and began
browsing, looking at the names of the remedies. He nodded to the
woman, smiling.

"Greetings, dragonrider," Parme said with a kind smile, jumping to her
feet as if she wasn?t tired at all. "Are you looking for something in
particular, or are you just browsing?"

"Just looking around," he replied as he perused her wares. "How much
do you want for these?" He picked up a set of bottles that were said
to contain draughts for one's health.

"Those are 1/16 marks a piece," Parme said as she looked at the
product he was holding. "Those are great for general stamina. I've
also got a broad collection of draughts for particular problems, like
if you battle with colds a lot, or have trouble breathing sometimes
and so on."

"Anything for coughing?" Sometimes after flying fall, even with the
weyrling wing, he coughed quite a bit from the ash. He wore a scarf
over his mouth, but it didn't get everything.

"Absolutely," Parme said with a nod. "What kind of cough is it? I have
something for everything!"

"Ash cough from inhaling it in the air," he promptly replied. He
didn't think a nonrider would understand it really. Groundcrews didn't
deal with that sort of thing since they were already down.

"Alright," Parme nodded, thinking on that for a moment. "This is what
I give woodcrafters who sometimes inhale sawdust," she then said,
picking up a satchel with dried herbs. "If you fill a basin with hot
water, add these herbs and inhale the steam with a towel over your
head, you should be able to get rid of that cough rather quickly."

**That sounds about right** He fingered the stuff, thinking it over. It
couldn't hurt so he nodded and gave her the marks. "I'll take a few."

"Wonderful," Parme said with a smile. "One satchel is good for about 3
treatments, how much would you like? They're only 1/16 mark a piece."

"I'll take two then please," D'lorn decided. If it worked, maybe he could
get some of the other riders onto it. He'd have to come see the woman
again he supposed.

"Wonderful," Parme said, satisfied with another sale. "And if you
decide you need more, I live right here at SSH, so it shouldn't be
hard to find me again." This gather seemed to be the perfect occasion
to spread her client base beyond Sunstone and Parme gladly took that
opportunity.

"Oh aye for certain," he said with a smile. He recognized her actions and
thought it good for there to be an enterprising woman in a Hold. She seemed
to be doing well enough for herself after all. "Is there instructions as to the
amounts in here?"

"Yes, every satchel holds a small card with detailed instructions.
Though basically, just divide the contents into three parts, one for
each treatment." Parme explained as she handed D'lorn his purchase.

He could do that.
}:Of course you can. I don't see what putting stuff up your nose is going to do
but okay:{
**I'm not putting it up my nose. I'm going to breathe it in and open
up my passages**
}:You need to leave your passages alone:{
**Oh come on.** He couldn't help it. He almost laughed out loud right there,
though no one would know why.

"Ahhh thanks again ma'am." He tried to take his purchase and get out of there
before he embarrassed himself.

"You're welcome," Parme said, wondering just what was up with the man
all of a sudden. "That'll be 1/8 mark then."

He had already handed over a few marks so he just waited for her to make the
change and hand it to him. He nodded when she spoke the price and began to
put his purchase into his beltpouch.

"Thank you for doing business with me." Returning the change, Parme
gave the man another kind smile, before letting him get on his way
again.

"No problem." D'lorn disappeared once more into the crowd of the gather. The
greenrider wondered what else he might find.
