Description: X'ian meets Ch'din
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 21 of Turn 6
Anyanth sprouted beside the young blue in the ocean, looking and
acting more like a dolphin than the cute little green that she was.
Curving her neck coyly, she reached out, }:hello there, I don't think
I know you.:{ The blue she was speaking to was young and lovely.
}: Hello, I'm Camyth, :{ the brilliantly blue dragonet replied with
friendly tone.
**Anyanth, who are you talking to?** Ch'din looked out at the
dragons, unfamiliar with the brilliant blue with his delicate little
green.
}:It's one of the weyrlings. His rider has to be close by.:{
Great, another blue rider to talk to. Ch'din sighed and glanced
about, trying to allow politeness overrule his inbred feelings about
blue and green riders, and hateful feelings towards himself even.
X'ian was leafing absently through the book of dragonhealering,
keeping an occasional eye on his dragon. Camyth seemed to found a new
playmate and he sighed.
}:So which one is your's? Maybe we can get mine to go say hello..he's
a bit of a prude.:{ Anyanth was a flirty little green and for the
life of her, she really didn't understand her lifemate's reluctance
sometimes. Flirting was fun!
}: That one, with black hair, who's reading a book. He reads too
much,:{ Camyth replied and snorted.
}:Ahh....:{ She looked and spotted the young man. To Ch'din she
said, }:he's just over there...and he's cute! Go say hello,:{
Her rider just snorted and sighed. His green was worse than an old
Auntie, trying to hook him up all the time. She just didn't
understand all the Holder-bred conditioning he had to fight against,
just to be him.
}: Why don't you say hello to your new friend?:{ Camyth said to his rider.
"What?" X'ian was at completely loss.
The green pointed to her rider as much as she could. }:Go on, go talk to him!:{
At his dragon's urging, X'ian started to look around searchingly.
When Ch'din saw the blue weyrling looking about he nodded hello. This
must be the rider of the pretty dragon his green was flirting with.
Maybe he would just nod hello back and they could leave it at that.
"Hi there," X'ian greeted. Guess he had to talk with the green's rider
or Camyth wouldn't leave him alone. He did notice he was attractive
looking.
Oh great. Trying not to squirm and not notice how good looking the
weyrling was, Ch'din muttered, "hiya."
"Is that green yours?" X'ian asked with nod towards the dragons. It
was a way to get conversation going.
"You mean that gossipy old Auntie dressed as a dragon?" Ch'din
grinned to let him know he was teasing. "Yep, that would be her."
"Then she should do well with Camyth, who likes to make friends. For
me too," X'ian remarked.
"So are you saying you like to make friends..or that you're a gossiply
old Auntie?" The slightly older rider kept the teasing up, finding he
was enjoying himself.
"He's the gossipy old Auntie," X'ian said and pointed Camyth. "I don't
mind having friends, though."
"Hiya, I'm Ch'din, by the way." He held out his hand in a greeting.
"Well met, Ch'din. I'm X'ian, weyrling and journeyman healer, " the
bluerider replied.
"You been at the Weyr long before you Impressed?" Ch'din felt
comfortable with this lad. Maybe it had to do with them both not
being Weyr-bred.
"No, not long. Just few sevendays," X'ian replied.
"Ahh..what d'you think?" He nodded in the direction of two male
riders who obviously had no issues with male and male love. "They get
any closer and they're going to exchange tongues."
"Or swallow them," X'ian said with sarcasm and felt a blush creep
along his cheeks. "I just hope they wouldn't flaunt about it."
"Yeah, me too. I tend to just keep my head down and ignore all this,
male on male or female on male." It was all too cozy for his liking.
"Yeah," X'ian totally agreed. Finally, someone who understood! "You
hold-bred too?" he asked.
"Is it that obvious?" Ch'din flushed and rolled his eyes. "Wonder if
the Hold boys up North have as hard a time as we do."
"I think so, men are same all over Pern," X'ian replied.
"Maybe..." All sorts of emotions that he wasn't used to were shooting
around Ch'din's head, making him confused inside. "Being a Holder
sucks..." he muttered almost to himself before one ever present
emotion won out, the urge to flee from a man he found attractive.
Running his fingers through his dark hair nervously, he said, "hey, I
gotta go, I just remembered something I forgot to do..." Before he
could censor himself he added, "can I see you around? I mean...sorry,
see you around?"
"Sure," X'ian said, feeling equal awkward. Ch'din was really cute and
he seemed to be nice too.
"Okay then..." Ch'din's voice was a bit husky than he meant it to be.
Blushing he turned and left as fast as it was polite to go.
"Bye then," X'ian waived after him and hoped it was just the sun that
was making his cheeks burn.
